Should have read the reviews first Meal was blah. Needed more chilli and sauce to give flavor and drown out the oil of the noodles On the plus side they were accommodating to gluten free Whilst candlelight can be romantic it would also be nice to be able to see what you are eating Would I be back? Probably not. Too many other options here to choose from

I actually really enjoyed this restaurant. The first time I particularly remembered satay chicken which was delicious. The last time I went I had steamed dumplings and a duck main. They were both delicious and my husband also enjoyed his meal. Unlike the other reviews, I’ve always had amazing service here! We were not at all rushed. The staff happily replaced our cutlery(a few times) when our then 8 month old son threw it on the ground. Based on our experience we would go back here for sure. The only thing I’m not sure about is the price. It might be a little steep for what’s on offer. I would not recommend the japanese slipper however :)

I really love the development at Southbank. Brisbane has done a good job to create a nice vibrant and cosmopolitan entertainment precinct and Obsession is right in the middle of it. The evening kicked off with some sparkling wine before settling into the banquet. I have posted a photo of the banquet selected and the standout dishes for me were the lemongrass pork chop, and the Indonesian seafood curry. The curry trumped the tables interest and was the most passed around dish enjoyed by all. The food isn’t spectacular but good. The value isn’t amazing but it fairs well. I don’t think I would return again in a hurry if I was in the area as there are so many restaurant options and new things to try.

If I could do ½ star I would! First of all, clearly, the host was trying cover the terrible food with a filled al fresco area. We were told that the inside area was«closed for a private party,» but we were these for over 2 hours(because the service was that TERRIBLE) and no one ever came in. In fact over an hour after we left, the whole inside will still empty. The beef was horrible tough! very low grade beef and pork used in both the items I chose. Not at all«fresh!» And as if the food was not low grade enough, the service was absolutely horrid!!! There are far too many restaurants in south bank area, DONOTWASTEYOURMONEY!

I tried the coconut base curry, was tasteless! Shrimp rice too, but it smelled. Other than the live piano playing I didn’t like anything about this place. And the service was very slow. Other than that, I found other dinners enjoying their food. So it might be my choices only. But, the next time I’m in the area I will try another place next door.

Simply horrible. Fly in the entrée. They refunded the cost of the(inedible) entrée. Could have been the best service on the planet and it wouldn’t matter… Really spoilt our evening. :-(.

When working in South Bank recently I was craving some asian cuisine for lunch and decided to give Obsession Chinese Restaurant a go. When I said a table for one, the waitress seemed pretty confused. «No one else?»…ummmm, nope just me and only me! After that weird little moment I sat down and perused through the extensive menu. The menu isn’t full of overly traditional Chinese cuisine, but the dishes sound delicious. Being a huge fan of spicy food I went for the Sichuan Shui Zhu Beef which was comprised of stir fried beef strips and wom bok with Sichuan chilli, sesame garlic and Sichuan chilli oil. It came out very quickly, but I was suprised that I was paying $ 26 for a relatively small plate of Sichuan beef. It was a little oily but otherwise really tasty. I get the feeling that Obsession might be a bit of a tourist trap. It’s a little overpriced and has a get ‘em in, get ‘em out feel to it, but they can obviously get away with it given their location on busy Stanley Street. If you’re looking for a super traditional Chinese meal, then I would avoid Obsession, but if you’re happy with a quick asian meal then it’s a good place to stop off.
