The vanilla slice was good, but service was pretty bad and the food is way overpriced. I asked a number of times about whether one of their items had milk in it and got different answers from multiple staff members. Drinks were mediocre.

Really rude staff, had a girl throw all the cutlery on the table… And refused to be of any assistance. It really isn’t hard to ask if you’d like anything — let alone smile. We understood it may not be possible to add chicken to the salad but we asked just incase — the response was quiet crude. Bottled table water would be nice as well. All in all — should of got fish and chips… Much friendlier. I always put on a smile and thank the staff and have done so today, though I just won’t be coming back.

Busy busy busy — and they turn over tonnes of their vanilla slices, they are nice. Ample seating outside & they gladly accommodated our large group(of 10) during the busy Christmas/NY period. We never felt rushed and they took the time and patience to take down all our orders

A good variety of café style foods. The club sandwich was lovely, my wife’s avocado smash was good, and children had poached eggs with soldiers. The coffee was very good as well. Vanilla slice is rather popular and is more a french vanilla slice — and rather good. The lady who served us was extremely pleasant. The only issue was that it was rather busy and other customers tend to jump in your seat as soon as they see your legs taking weight.

The most overpriced and overrated vanilla slice I’ve had(and I’ve had a lot). Iced coffee is very nice. Service polite but slow.

Definitely the place for a vanilla slice and a coffee! Very cute place with a cute patio. The vanilla slices were amazing, and they accommodated my order for our group of 8 no problem(take away as well!)

Nice and quaint but expensive. Nice toasted sandwich with bacon, cheese, tomato with bechamel sauce $ 15.50, Bruschetta $ 15, bowl of Chips $ 8. Very small, no more then 3 tables always crowded.

This place is always packed and its a good reason for it. They have awesome pies. The famous pie they serve is the vanilla slice pie which is good but my favorite is the hot apple pie.

Such a delicious vanilla slice(and the place I had my first ever vanilla slice!!). The café was super adorable and cozy and looked like it had lots of other yummy treats to try!

After hearing this café has the best-tasting Vanilla slice — I had to try. Was very disappointed — with not only the slice but also the coffee. Slice was a huge portion(a plus!) however, could only taste the custard — which lacked sweetness.

Went there today to try a piece of their famous ancillary slice. It was delicious, but the $ 7.50 price tag took the shine off it some what!

Cue Homer drooling sounds! Stopped in Sorrento on the way back from a weekend in Portsea and wow, what a tasty stop! With a sign on the front door that says«Home of Sorrento’s best vanilla slice,» how could you not try one? We sat outside in the sun and had extremely tasty vanilla slices. They’re huge, I only finished half of mine. The table service is very slow but worth the wait and we were in no rush. My partner tells me this vanilla slice is even known as the best in Victoria! Mmmmm. NB: If you’re sitting outside, the seagulls will surround you and as soon as you get up, they’ll attack whatever’s left on your plate, so be careful! :)

Best Vanilla Slice This is the only reason I go to Sorrento. I have never made a trip to Sorrento and not bought their infamous vanilla slice, in fact, these days I go to Sorrento just to buy it. Located on the main strip of shops towards the beach end, this place is always packed(inside and out). Their sign even writes«home of Victoria’s best vanilla slice». Their vanilla slice holds creamy custard with jam sandwiched between crispy pastry and dusted with icing sugar. Their kitchen is constantly pumping out huge tray-fulls because they keep selling so many. Price wise I guess it’s pretty expensive, but that really doesn’t stop people from buying 5 or more to take home. While you’re here you should also try their stuffed olives in sweet chili sauce, this is also a must buy every time(if you like olives that is). The shop itself isn’t so big, I don’t really know what else they sell– I just try to get in and out as fast as possible because it’s thoroughly cramped most of time.

If you making the trip down to the Mornington Peninsula and haven’t put Just Fine Foods on your stop, make sure you do! Sorrento is home to the famous vanilla slice. There isn’t a Melbournian that wouldn’t recommend Just Fine Foods for a small piece of vanilla slice heaven… Incredibly thin layers of crispy melt in your mouth, delicate puff pastry struggling to contain the heavenly smooth whipped cream custard that engulfs it. A smooth strawberry jam bottom layer of pastry all completed with a generous dusting of sweet icing sugar. Admittedly they are not the easiest things to eat so its best done in the privacy of your own home. or as I like to do it shared with an espresso. Two forks in this equation are definitely better than one and after seeing the size of it you wont feel as guilty either.
