If you like putting a bunch of ingredients together in a bowl for a chef to cook as you watch, this is the place for you. I went to Genghis Khan for the first time and really enjoyed this method of cooking & eating. They have recipes written on a board for a guide, otherwise let your creativity take you for a ride.(Excuse the rhyme). $ 20 for all you can eat is pretty good.

This place is not posh. Now that’s out of the way, sit down and prepare to feast with friends or family. It’s great for kids who(with supervision) will love creating their own concoctions and want to go back time and time again for another bowl full of healthy food. Think about that — kids getting excited about healthy food! The price is quite good for the all you can eat feast; just over $ 20. And there’s a menu of other dishes of you want someone to do it all for you.

Food that is also fun– hells yeah! Although the décor is rather scant– think concrete floors and and furniture that would look at home in a school canteen, the food and the experience out weighs all of that! The deal is that you select your own meats and veggies, put them in a bowl(either out of your own creativity or by following a recipe on the board) and then hand it over(this is where the fun comes in) to a guy with giant chopsticks and a giant wok like bbq thing who cooks it all up for your eating pleasure. For only $ 22 you can treat yourself to this and keep going back until you’re too full to move. Experiment with the sauces and taste combinations to your hearts content! I’ll be back– a new personal favourite for me!

From the outside, this place may look like just another shabby restaurant, but remember looks can be deceiving. Genghis Khan is BBQ heaven. You aren’t only there for the meal, you’re there for the experience. Ghenghis Khan recently moved to Montacute Road after their previous residence was knocked down for a complete building complex renovation. I think this was a good move for them, as the restaurant was tucked away and hard to find, yet somehow it was still well known by many. Now it’s out in the open for all to see, therefore book ahead. So on top of the food tasting amazing, you also get to create your own dish, or follow a recipe of course. Now don’t worry, it’s not hard. It’s like moving down a salad bar, picking your meat, vegetables and then sauce combinations. And then the chefs cook up your meal and they are fantastic; flipping the bowl of ingredients around on the BBQ plate with giant chopsticks and then flicking it off and catching it a bowl to serve. Yes you heard correctly, they flick it off the BBQ and catch it in the bowl. It’s like a circus act. Oh and did I mention it’s all you can eat? Oh yeah, this place knows how to please.

I’m a huge fan of Mongolian BBQ food, I think it’s the whole«assemble it yourself but let someone else go to the trouble of cooking it» thing that does it for me. Genghis Khan does this really well — it’s not known quite as well as some of the bigger names in Adelaide, but that’s probably because it’s out in the ‘burbs. The food’s great, cooked really quickly on the big bbq. Plenty of off street parking is available, but they do get very busy, so I recommend booking ahead if you can.
