I used to go to Himawari in Elizabeth Arcade 15 years ago, and it was my personal first intro to what I now have loved for many years, the karaage chicken.
For 9 bucks you can get a Karaage Chicken Bento Box with unlimited rice, miso, chicken and a nicely seasoned salad with mushrooms and a cool dressing. For 2 bucks extra you can add sides of Agedashi Tofu or more chicken. I mean if you think about it you could feed a family of four for 11 bucks with the unlimited rice option… not that I’ve tried that… yet!
Great value, quick service and very fresh and tasty food, this place will always be my go to for Karaage chicken.
PS it’s got other dishes too if you aren’t as crazy about fried chicken as I am.

This is the Sunnybank outlet of Himawari (it’s sister store is in Elizabeth Arcade in the CBD). The menu offers the same delicious meals as the city store. Affordable bento boxes and sets. Service is quick and friendly. I’m a fan of all the rice bento boxes (particularly chicken katsu!)
