Quality of food — Burger was very good, even better than huxtaburger because of the quality of the beef. Do not get the sourdough bread with butter. It was stale and a waste of $ 5 — that should be free or just not even on the menu. Partner had wings which were OK at best and small. Atmosphere– nice bar type feel but do not sit in the middle portion around sunset. The sun was glaring in our eyes the whole time. Not just sort of in your eyes but to the point where sunglasses won’t even help because it’s directly in your face. The hostess should really be aware of that when they lead you to seats(the whole place was empty) or the restaurant should probably do something to address that. Service — no issue. Value — a bit more expensive than surrounding restaurants. Maybe the other meal options would be good but I likely won’t return.

The new Eastland Restaurant district is fabulous and a convenient culinary addition to the area. Hunter & Barrell, has the right idea. A very clear, defined menu with an emphasis on pub meals with an indulgent, new wave twist. Appropriately matched with an extensive pub menu. Very well suited to the area. My date and I ordered a the Hunters Feast, serves two people for $ 39 per person. The share platter includes beef rump, chicken thigh, pork belly and wagyu sausage, with the choice of four salads/sides. We ordered the grain salad, roasted cauliflower, roasted pepper and potato salad. The meat platter came with four additional sauces, two store bought mustards and two home made. The meat was all well seasoned and well flavoured. The beef rump was unfortunately way too over cooked, but still edible. The chicken was by far the best, melt in your mouth delicious! The grain salad, in my most humble opinion was the star of the show! I had to practise a lot of self restraint to ensure I shared it and also didn’t stuff myself! The food overall was pretty damn good. I must say, I didn’t feel too well received upon arrival. Granted, it was a Friday night and they were pumping, I think customer service is key especially for new establishments. The waitstaff were gems though. The outdoor seating area doesn’t cater for sundown, so all of the patrons outdoors facing the sun were blinded for an hour with little concern from management. I think slight adjustments and attention to their customers would be more advantageous to them rather than their custom matches. Just saying. All in all, a lovely place to eat, drink and hang out, I will definitely be going back!

Great service, we had the pork belly and chicken both were very good and the king prawns in garlic and chili sauce are amazing. Well worth trying out.

Two stars as the food was actually ok but doesn’t make up for small portions, expensive menu and very rude service. The place looks like a fantastic addition to Eastland’s new restaurant scene but left much to be desired. We order the«banquet» option which wasn’t much of a banquet at all. We asked our waiter whether we could order multiple sides as we had a larger table with everyone going for the banquet. It made sense to the waiter, but the owner(we think) rudely approached us later to overule our decision as it was too hard for the Kitchen. It really sucks when you are made to feel like a huge inconvenience when you are a paying customer. To top it off, we had a red wine dropped behind our table which splashed underneath our table. No apology given just asked to move out the way for the mop. Not going back…
