How can you not like a place called Chicken N Beer? It’s impossible. They serve up huge platters of fried food and towers of beer at reasonable prices with absolutely lovely service. It’s worth trying. There’s outdoor seating in the front and back of the restaurant as well as a few tables inside. They do take bookings and fill up on weekends, so be mindful of that in these colder months if you don’t enjoy sitting under heat lamps. Three friends and I opted for the 4 person platter of fried bits and some chips. The platter included boned chicken, chicken ribs, popcorn chicken, and boneless chicken and was lightly drizzled with a mildly spicy sauce. The breading on all the fried bits was really well seasoned and went perfectly with the barbeque, sweet chili, and Caesar aioli served alongside them. I found all the chicken quite dry and desperately in need of drenching with the sauces, but it was still tasty. They have a decent on-tap beer selection as well as a wide selection of organic colas and kombuchas. I myself opted for a mint, apple, sencha, and clorophyll kombucha that was perfectly fizzy and just a touch sweet. The chips were worth writing home about, let me tell you. Huge, crispy-on-the-outside, creamy-on-the-inside delights. I could’ve eaten the whole large size to myself, and mostly feasted on these throughout the meal. Service was absolutely wonderful and friendly from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Definitely boosted the experience in my mind. It’s worth a try. Come on, guys, it’s chicken and beer.(Oh, and lamb, too, if you’re feeling ironic.)

Stop, before you order and pay be sure to ask the staff what you will actually get! ! ! Not a great experience over lunch today, ordered the share platter with a mate that says clearly on the menu that it comes with sauces, salad and fries. Thought this would be a good way to sample a little bit of everything from this new place on Bridge rd. Not the case. .. . Out came a platter of chicken but no sides or sauces. Had another look at the menu and it says clearly under the platter comes with sauces, salad and fries, very disappointed when I asked about our missing sides and was told twice that it doest come with the sides. Food was what you would expect from a place called Chicken N beer, doest shoot the lights out on the flavor side but delivers some of what the menu says :)
