I go here whenever I feel rundown. Eclectic, intimate, mishmash of a place. Portraits of the Queen, mismatched crockery and candelabras. Outdoor dining on rickety tables with check blankets. Definitely unique. I like taking people here for the first time to see their reaction. Healthy, wholesome food. Some reviews call it bland — those reviewers must like fatty, sugary food though as it tastes delicious. Think gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian options with fresh herbs, veggies and chilli. Yum. If I was in Sydney I’d go tonight. Book people! Don’t miss out.

This place is really homey — literally, there are fireplace mantles with antique furnishings everywhere and you could be in a grandmother’s living room having wholesome vegetarian food. The food is great and you can taste the freshness and goodness but it does not compromise on flavor — there are great spices and seasonings. However, I have to say that the value is not very good — $ 26 for a main size of a salad and $ 16 for entrees. I have yet to find an accessible healthy restaurant that doesn’t break the bank.

This place is amazing! It is vegetarian and the food really is super Nourishing. The feel of the place is Vietnamese with a little bit of a latin twist. The staff were very friendly and happy to discuss the menu with us and recommend some delights. I have to say the tofu & pumpkin curry was my absolute favourite. And what is suprising about this place is that every dish tastes completely different– my brother would cringe at the thought of going to a vegetarian restaurant but I think he would even love this place! The restaurant does 2 seatings, one at 6pm and one at 8pm so its a bit awkward to book as 7pm is usually the most desired time. So just keep that in mind and book far in advance :)

Nourishing Quarter is hard to explain. It’s sort of a vegetarian café, sort of a restaurant, and they have a Latin American /Vietnamese fusion thing going on. They’re very into wholegrains and quinoa. Nourishing Quarter’s food is probably as healthy as you can possibly get, when eating out. The first time I came here, the owner(well, I think he was the owner), sat with me at my table and asked me how I was feeling. Was I feeling healthy? Or did I have a bit of a cold? Was I tired? He used this information to help suggest«nourishing» items from the menu. That might sound odd, but it was actually really nice to have a bit of advice on the menu, because it can be hard to figure out what some of the things are. I particularly rate the Congee and the Sacred Khot, but the Phở is good too. Everything is quite fresh, and the portions are humble in size. The plates and tea cups are all mismatched and look like they were pretty good finds at Vinnies. The main room feels very quaint: it is filled with delightful antiques and at lunchtime they play jazz tunes from the 30s. It all feels very peaceful, but not in a wanker new age way, in a kind of charming, faintly eccentric sort of way. They have an outside courtyard at the back, though when I was there last year it was rather unpleasant because of the on-again off-again sound of the kitchen’s exhaust fan. It’s BYO, corkage is $ 3 pp.
