This place has an excellent, funky vibe! Located in Randwick at the spot in front of the round about, I was surprised how busy it was on a weekend night. The style is flavour packed tapas — designed to share. Also this place has a full bar from cocktails to wines, beers, spirits, ciders etc. Some cocktails are creative. Also having the classics too. I ordered 2 dishes the scallops and octopus — both outstanding and addictive. I will be back to try more!

Great tapas place. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We’ve been there half a dozen times and always a pleasant experience. Would recommend any tapas dish in the menu.

My Mum took me out to dinner here and it has fast become one of my favourite restaurants at the Spot. The service from staff was efficient and they were so funky and lovely! They made sure we had whatever we needed and were genuinely helpful without the plastered fake smiles you find on so many in customer service. The Tapas selection has an excellent variety from traditional Spanish options like the patatas bravas(so delicious) to not so traditional options(like the kiwiana whitebait fritters which brought back memories of my trips around the land of the long white cloud). Being a Spanish tapas bar I insisted on trying the churros. The dipping sauce was divine. The churros themselves were cooked to perfection but were missing that lovely hint of cinnamon sugar. The other dessert we tried was the sticky fig and caramel pudding. It was all we could do not to dive in head first into the caramel sauce. I loved it and will continue to go back whenever I find myself in Randwick.

Really great tapas spot. Looks great in– and outside, and the heat poles outdoors are more than sufficient to keep you toasty. The menu had some usual and some unusual choices. We shared three — the calamari, the patatas bravas, and the paella balls — and all were fantastic. They were perfectly cooked and LOADED with spices and sauces; buckets of flavour. Our cheery server also told us that their $ 15 cocktails were on happy hour prices for $ 10. Perfect! They were good, too. Best of all, we mentioned that we were really in a hurry to get to our film, having got stuck in traffic on the way. No fear, he said. And sure enough, within minutes we had all the perfectly cooked food I mentioned above. When a place responds to your requests with a smile and quick competence… well, that’s what customer service is all about, isn’t it? It was a perfect, if brief, experience.

I have tried some of their Paella at the Spot Festival and it was good but it was clear that it was sitting out and would probably be better fresh. Came here for dinner on a Thursday night. It was busy but not super packed, we were able to get a table for two without a booking. Unfortunately the paella is a special only on some nights, so no paella for me :( We ordered a liter of sangria and it was yummy! Since I wasn’t getting my paella, we just ordered a few tapas — the carpacio trout, the potatoes bravas and the pork belly. The trout was nice and tasty, the potatoes were just average, but the pork belly was cooked perfectly and the crackling was delicious! We decided to get the pistachio custard dessert, which was crème brule style. Very yummy. Overall a great place, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

One of my Favourite things to do on a Tuesday night is go to the Ritz for a movie followed by dinner at The Spanish Fly. Having just been in Spain, the prices here are just so blown out for what you get, however the quality of the food is gor-geous! The Parmesan Encrusted John Dory Fillets are brilliant but the star dish here is the Lamb Fillets with Yoghurt. Cooked to perfection, they go well with some great sides like the beans or the salad. Rich food but worth feeling beyond replete over. The wine can be expensive and there isn’t a great long list to choose from. My favourite glass is $ 12 so it can be a bit of a strain on the wallet if having more than one. Opulent surroundings, The Spanish Fly, will warm your heart and satisfy your palate.

Spanish Tapas food is so much fun, the Spaniards know how to party and that is what Tapas is really all about, it’s all party food. The Spanish Fly is a great option for Tapas, it is just around the corner from the Randwick Ritz cinema and it is a Funky space with a great outdoor area. Tapas usually is a bit pricy as you do not get a lot of food so you have to keep ordering more and more, it is okay though as The Spanish Fly’s offerings are good so you want to keep trying everything. My favourite is always the fried potatoes and you need lots of them to soak up all the alcohol in the Sangria. Sangria is just the best drink ever, but it is so deceptive because it is like a soft drink and so easy to drink and suddenly your drunk. Oh well ready to part at least.

Get a group of your mates together, book a table and spend the night chilling, drinking and laughing with your friends as this is what the Spanish Fly was designed for… Now everytime I’ve walked passed its been PACKED so I suggest you get in early or book… I headed there for a friends birthday and we had so much. The Sangria was delicious and the food fabulous… lots of yummy little dishes to keep your taste buds satisfied… It’s a little pricey and the plate size a little small… but if you make an occassion our of it — you can actually end up having quite a good value night out. I loved the Haloumi, John Dory Fillets and the olives — all excellent! Dishes costs between $ 15 — $ 25 and are designed to share.
