60 minutes for fish and chips and a chicken sandwich. The food was okay but it didn’t justify the wait time. Was only lunch. Staff were okay but not very accommodating

Had the sliders for dinner. Highly recommended. The service however can be better. Place was packed on a Friday. Check it out.

Occasionally my work brings me to Randwick and seems to be a lot of good specials on food around the area. I came across the Cookhouse and saw they have special steak night on Wednesday. After that I was sold.
The Cookhouse doesn’t look like much from the outside but interior is quite nice and one part is bistro and the other bar. The bistro side is very nice and definitely somewhere that you could bring a date to. It’s got the mood lighting and table service.
The Wednesday night steak special was $ 14.50 so didn’t really see much of a need to examine the rest of the menu. I ordered it medium rare. Often in pubs they all come out looking the same regardless of your requests but got to say they cooked it beautifully. The steak was 350gm so a decent chunk of cow.
The steak came accompanied with chops and I ordered mushroom sauce. They charged $ 3 for the sauce which was a bit of a price hike considering it wasn’t large portion but I will forgive them, gotta make gross profit on something. Next time I would go without the sauce because the steak was juicy already. The chips were good too.
The service was pretty good and considering it was busy, my food came out after 15 minutes.
These guys offer $ 10 lunch specials during the week which will definitely check out. For those rib enthusiasts they also do $ 27 all you can eat rib night on a Monday.

Came here with a group of 14 people from work for the $ 10 lunch and full bar. Half of us ordered the steak and while it’s only $ 10 it should at least be cooked decently. From orders of rare to medium well they all came out looking the same. Why bother asking how we want our steak cooked when it will only be cooked one way?
One of the main reasons we came here was for the full bar but when we ordered cocktails the waitress came back 5 minutes later and said «sorry it’s very busy now so we do not have time to make cocktails». Um excuse me? That’s your job. How can you deny your customers the items they order!!!
Service was terrible and beyond slow. Forgot drink orders, had to ask multiple people for the bill. We won’t be coming here again.

What can I say? Bar, bistro, cocktails?
Love this place for the great range of beers, cocktails and wines, food is good for a bar type meal or sit down dinner for two (or more). Try the lamb croquets! Yum, more please…
Sofas for small groups are a lot of fun. Might be better to book for peak nights.
Hidden secret, upstairs is a good option for a private party etc. we got it to ourselves one Sunday afternoon for a birthday lunch, so much easier as we had lots of kids.
Staff are friendly, great attitude to service, and finally what a building, the Captain would have loved it.

Great atmosphere, bit of jazz in the background, friendly staffs, had beekcheek with an ale on Sunday lunch, very tender, I do wish the sauce to be thicker and more robust taste. That said I will order again just for the tenderness and the side veges full of flavor… Definitely coming back to try other dishes
