Wary of the poor reputation of this place, I and a friend counted my 90 x deposit containers into three garbage bags. At the container depot, the guys removed the bags from my car, and shortly after I was presented with $ 8.50 in cash, with no receipt.
I said that I had brought in 90 containers. The attendant disagreed, saying he had counted only 85.
I didn’t pursue it. It’s only 50c in $ 9, but on a turnover of hundreds per day, even that rate of tax-​free short-​changing would mount up.
I’ll be going to the depot at Pooraka in future, where the service is friendly, you can watch the guys counting the containers and where you get a printed receipt.
