Once upon a time purchasing white goods and big ticket electrical items was a considered and researched consumer process. Options were weighed, pros and cons compared and alternatives deliberated over. Now its a drive to the local Good Guys and point at the biggest item just above your price range. Throw away consumer culture, cheaper imports and constant competitive pricing has reduced the level of consumer involvement in these purchase decisions as all the products are relatively same same. The service at The Good Guys is fine, the staff are friendly and only AS knowledgable as a tech savvy teenager. There is always a sale so no real feeling of «rip off» however the optional extended warranty for an additional $ 80 leaves a sour taste. My housemate and I just bought a TV from here and the experience was fine. No real hard sales and a marginally better product selection than neighbouring JB Hi-Fi.
