History

Established in 2004.

Richard & Amy met whilst working at Australia’s largest Cat Clinic in Brisbane. They decided to move to Melbourne to start their own Cat Clinic for both general and referral cases. Amy completed her residency in Feline Medicine at the University of Sydney and went on to pass her Fellowship exams in order to become a registered Specialist in Feline Medicine.

Richard G.

Business Owner

Richard graduated from the University of Queensland Veterinary School in 1998. His aim at The Cat Clinic is to provide high quality compassionate care exclusively for cats, as well as providing the most up to date and optimal choices for your cat’s health.

The Veterinary team consults closely with Specialists in all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and surgery.

Richard has a particular interest in renal medicine, ultrasonography and geriatric feline medicine. His real passion is long term pain & osteoarthritis management. He lectures routinely on this field in Australia and internationally.

He regularly presents lectures on feline medicine at Veterinary conferences and is actively involved in continuing eduction in all areas of feline health and medicine. He is a member of the International society of Feline Medicine. Richard served as the President of the Melbourne Vet Group for 5 years and currently is a committee member of the Victorian branch of the AVA.

Have a cat? Love your cat? Do her — and yourself — the favor of going to The Cat Clinic for all her veterinary needs.
We have seen two vets here — Dr Keshe and Dr Richard. They were both thorough and soft-​handed with our kitten, took plenty of time to explain training techniques, talked us through her growth stages and recommended affordable products to keep her healthy and happy over the years.
What impressed me most was the doctors’ sweet bedside manner and affection for cats, which we haven’t experienced elsewhere. The quality of care, quiet comfort at reception (they use Feliway to help keep patients calm), and little toys they send in the mail make this the only place we’ll take our furry friend.

We lived in Prahran and my cat was attended to by the good people at the Cat Clinic. I must say that I was completely impressed by the amazing service and care that this clinic provided. The doctors and nursing staff, as well as the people at reception, all show a great deal of empathy and concern for the needs of their little patients. A very high quality operation. Highly recommended.

We’ve taken our cat, Bella to The Cat Clinic since we adopted her from the RSPCA in 2007 for all her vaccinations, a dental procedure, regular checkups and can call them with any worries that we might have.
Dr. Richard and all of the vets are incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable and skilled when it comes caring for your feline companions. They sell and use Feliway in their offices to make the situation of visiting a vet less stressful for your cat.
They also have a cattery facility upstairs if you have to leave your cat overnight for any reason, and though they take them if you’re going away for a weekend as well, I prefer a larger place so they can walk around. They do have catteries they recommend, however.
Simply, they love cats and it shows.

Probably one of the most popular cat vets in Melbourne. I love dogs but sometimes I get a little worried about how excitable they get in the waiting room when they notice my cat. Plus I’m sure our feline friends can’t be too comfortable seeing a big, slobbering K9 peering into their cat carrier. They specialise in all things cat or catty, you can even pick up some specialised cat foods, toys, beds and treats here. They also have dental facilities, an in-​house laboratory, ultrasound, endoscopy and radiology capabilities. All the vets are extremely knowledgeable and incredibly nice people.
