We had a fantastic lunch at palate. I had been there a long time ago but it has really improved. I love the option to build your own Paleo plate. I had the herbed grilled chicken with a sweet potato mash plus broccoli, asparagus and avocado smash. The retox smoothie with coffee and banana was superb. The service was great and the ambience fun. Other people at lunch loved The salmon. Overall a fantastic lunch!

After living just around the corner from Palate and never giving it a go, we thought this would be a good place to catch up with family visiting Melbourne from the country. I chose eggs with quinoa and was pleased. In fact everyone on our table was pleased. Nothing jumped out and wowed me about Palate, but was very happy with the service we got especially since we had a toddler with us and they were all very accommodating to the little ones needs. Another breakfast venue to tick off the list!

The food is good but a bit pricey compared to the multitude of options available around here — also I find the coffee hit and miss(as in I can’t drink that even for the caffeine content)

Went in for a bit of Paleo food. It was a strange atmosphere with music remind me of a early hours Sunday club in Brixton. Service was very slow even to the point of nearly walking out. Food was good and generous servings and coffee not bad.

Great place to get a healthy breakfast. Many choices and all day breaky available. Eggs were cooked perfectly and orders were taken with great detail. Each detail was delivered for both our meals. Will be returning here for sure. Also if like to complain about the little but if text below saying my review is shorter than most. Good reviews don’t need to be long. They need to be honest, accurate and entertaining.

Hubby and I came here because we were trying to use up our entertainment book vouchers before they expire in a month. We chose it because of these three words: All day breakfast. What a find! This place rocks :) What we ordered: 1) tall latte(and tall means almost pint size!) 2) veggie patch(2 poached Free Range Eggs, feta, sautéed mushrooms, baby spinach, grilled tomato, avocado, and Palate hash brown with wholegrain toast) I loved this brekkie, I should have taken a photo. 3) big brekkie(2 Free Range eggs, poached, fried or scrambled, bacon, pork sausage, grilled tomato, Palate baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, Palate hash brown and house made relish with toasted Turkish) This was the first time I’ve seen Dave not finish a breakfast, it was big! The service was great, the waitress that seated was friendly and quick with water and glasses. The waiter that took our order was smiley, cute and very pleasant. All in all, with our coupon we paid $ 24 but for an average meal it’d probably cost $ 40 – 50. We’d go again :)

Heaven’s Hangover Cure! As in the tip; if you are hungover there is an order that I suggest: 1 — Refresher Juice 2 — Bloody Mary(or two) 3 — Latte 4 — Eggs Benedict(Breakfast Pizza is a suitable substitute) 5 — Refresher Juice(or Bloody Mary if the mood suits) It has taken about a year of experimentation to get to this point but my gosh it has been worth it! Anyway, now that we’ve gotten past the important information, a bit about the café: Palate is definitely a South Side café, everything is clean, well cooked, good coffee and the atmosphere is lovely albeit a touch bland. This being said you can be assured of good food every time you go there and there is all day breakfast; in my book this makes it a winner. They’re also one of the first cafes in Melbourne that has produced a completely separate«Paleo» menu. Being quite fond of my usual fatty foods I am not quite qualified to judge its quality but from what I have overheard from fit looking people who seem like the dieting type it’s getting good reviews! Kaz, behind the magic machine, will make you a wonderful coffee which is a consistently excellent taste sensation, something that is often risky with other cafes. This coffee craftsmanship is not let down by the kind wait staff who are more than happy to either have a conversation if you’re by yourself or keep a polite distant if you’re in deep discussion with a group of people. If you’re in the area it is definitely worth a meander down Greville Street to try the coffee and if you’re hungover, see top of review…

Palate Restaurant and Bar is a very popular destination for Chapel Street locals, being located on the very trendy Greville Street Palate serves a delicious menu of Modern Australian Cuisine for both breakfast and lunch. The all day breakfast menu has been a bot of a favourite for me over the years, especially when it’s a nice warm weekend and your in the mood for a Sunday Brunch. For breakky I can’t go past the Eggs Benedict — 2 Poached free range eggs on Prager Ham, topped with Hollandaise. Served with Turkish toast. I have also tried the BBQ Chicken Salad, which includes BBQ Peri Peri Chicken, green beans, cherry tomatoes, potatoes and a light citrus dressing. Palate are also available after hours as a catering service, they offer both a tasty selection of finger food or sit down dinner menus, perfect for any function, event or celebration.
