Lovely and quirky. ‘Basil’ and his team are just so friendly and helpful. If I am ever in Portland again there is no other place I will stay. Breakfast was fab with a great omelet and even better coffee in a lovely room. The room was large and the victoriana just right. A definite highlight of our trip.

I stayed here recently whilst driving from Adelaide to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. I’d underestimated the time it would take to reach Portland, and although I was the last guest to arrive that night, owner Craig waited for me and patiently explained everything I needed to know, from using the wireless internet to turning on the electric blanket. Victoria House is a quaint, historic Georgian mansion turned B&B, filled with antique furniture in the individual rooms and the common living room. Craig and Janet serve a full home-cooked breakfast with meats, eggs, breads, and yogurt in a sun-filled dining room overlooking a pretty terrace and garden. The house is also located just one block away from the harbour. If I wasn’t in such a rush to get there the night before and then leave the morning after to continue my way down the Great Ocean Road, I’d certainly have enjoyed some more time here.
