Exceptional food. Only downside? Tables way too small to fit a big boy and all the yummy food!

I should preface this review to say that I came here at lunch for a chicken salad. I did consider whether it was fair to review an Indian restaurant on this basis, but it’s on the menu and from outside perception based on décor etc, I believed this place to be a café hence why trying it for lunch. After browsing the menu I wanted to come back and try it out for dinner and get some more traditional Indian dishes, but after lunch I don’t think I will. I ordered the Himachal Chicken Salad(ginger and cumin chicken). It took a little while to come and I heard a lot of playing around with a microwave in the back. I was a little perplexed given I was the only diner in the place, as to why my salad needed microwaving, so I can only assume the chicken was frozen. The meat was very cheap thigh meat, dry and with lots of grisly bits. Definitely couldn’t taste the cumin or ginger, it lacked any real flavour and was almost honey-sweet. Too much oil in the whole thing, it’s sitting very heavily in my stomach and I feel like I need a tea or something to cut through the oiliness now. At $ 16, it wasn’t value for money. If you were passing by and keen on trying the full Indian menu, I wouldn’t discourage a visit, but personally not to my taste. Probably more suited for fussy eaters and palates that can’t handle usual Indian spice.
