My daughter and I visited Fresh Nails yesterday and whilst the staff may be polite, they do not listen and we will not be returning. Whilst the lady that took care of my daughter did a wonderful job, the lady who looked after myself did not. I have naturally long nails and I asked for them to be shaped only, however, she cut my nails extremely short. She was also distracted by the phone ringing whilst trimming my cuticles and has ripped a large piece of my cuticle which overnight has become infected. I understand getting a little nick may happen from time to time but this is not a nick. There are many other nail salons in Port Melbourne and I would suggest you visit one of them instead.

The mani-pedi scene in Port Melbourne is big business. I know there’s a lot of polished ladies in this area but seriously, the competition is fierce when you have no less than 7 nail salons within 1−2km radius! It’s hard to pick one when they all appear to be exactly the same. Prices are cheap, but that’s not always the greatest selling point in an industry where hygiene is a concern. I have been to Fresh Nails a few times and haven’t had any issues to date — the salon is clean, the ladies are all friendly, careful and efficient. I’ve only ever had one minor cuticle nick and they were extremely apologetic and fussed over me a lot to make sure there was no real damage or bleeding. The one thing this place does have over neighbouring ones(this is the only reason I pick this one over others I’ve tried) is that they give a good massage. Every mani or pedi I’ve had has included a short but decent foot or hand massage that is a little better than just slapping on some hand cream. Prices are cheap, $ 30 for a spa pedi and for memory, about the same for a shellac mani with $ 5 removal of old colour.

What I love about Fresh Nails is that they really take a mani & pedi to the next level. I’ve been going there for a couple of years now and since their competition opened two doors down(Good nails) they have had 50% off every service in the name of their«3rd Birthday» sale which has carried over for close to 12 months now. Hey, if it means I can get a full manicure for $ 11 and a full spa pedicure for a ridiculous $ 27 then I’m not complaining. Here’s to another birthday!
