Absolutely loved breakfast here! I had the Eggs Benedict with salmon on brioche toast and it was totally the best Eggs Benedict I ever had. I also love that the ambiance of this café is french country and NOT hipster. Because the Inner West really does not need another hipster café. All the desserts here are yummy too and goes without saying that if I’m giving them 5 stars the coffee was right on.

Today I had the best corn fritters dish I’ve had in my life, though to set expectations I should probably just say they were really bloody good. Bacon was consistently crispy, avocado was super fresh and the corn in the fritters was so sweet and juicy. Service was good and no qualms with coffee. Would love to live nearby to come here more often!

Every time I have had food here it has taken ages to come out and it was very overpriced for the product provided. Several times I have come here just for a takeaway morning coffee. Even with nobody in line and no current active orders, the barristers fluff about and then finally decide when they want to start making the coffee. For a 1 minutes exercise, it takes closer to 6 or 7 minutes. It conveys a rude stuck-up attitude which I do not need to bother with. I simply can not believe people go crazy over this place. Perhaps the name is catchy and the fit-out is hipster/trendy…

The quintessential inner west weekend brunch spot. Pig and the Pastry has been a recent discovery for me and I keep coming back for more. It’s a fairly decent sized space with some seating outside, being right next to a public park is good and bad for parking. The service is always friendly and accommodating depending on your group size, probably best to call ahead of time for large groups as its big enough to be a café but not large enough to be classified a restaurant in Sydney. All the produce used in the food is fresh and most likely of organic origins(which I’m guessing on the décor and vibe). Simple and clear menu has some classics like a Chicken Schnitzel but done with a humble salad and chipotle that transports your tastebuds. Breakfast has some healthy-ish options but these are taken in consideration with the core component of the meal. Take the Bacon and Egg Roll, it’s served as a burger and the barbecue sauce commands the dish. Cakes and pastry is sold as eat-in and take away items(which change every so often), coffee and milkshakes as well. The gingerbread is a favourite of mine — super refreshing for the sinus. At the end of the day, this is a humble little place that ‘s rustic feel and pastel interiors make it feel homely and the food cements this feeling. A place to return for sure.

The coffee is great and the food was delish. I had brunch and was very satisfied. The café is cute and set up very ‘in’ right now.

Stumbled on this lovely little spot and glad we did. Clearly busy with locals, prams about and lots of mums and kids, but wow what a great looking menu. I could not resist the sausage roll, and it was spectacular! She had the quiche, which was also excellent. The accompanying salad was amazing, I think it had candied dried tomatoes or something in it — awesome! Coffee, also most excellent. A winner!

What a great little local spot just off parramatta road next to the cricket grounds. Good coffee and a loverly selection of cakes the breakfast lunch menu has the usual fare and all reasonably priced. I’m keen to return and check out the dinner menu.

Pig & Pastry is the new kid on the block in Petersham, serving up the usual tasty breakfast fare and lunches(with the bonus of being licenced if a bottle of wine is needed). They have an in-house bakery and make their own pies, quiches, bread and sausage rolls. Having just opened, the place is understandably packed on weekends, and still ironing out a few kinks. When we went, rather than brave the crowd, we grabbed a couple of take-away coffees and one of their home-made beef brisket and pickle sandwiches and wandered over to Petersham Park to enjoy our eats and watch a bit of baseball. I can highly recommend this! Location location location. The coffee was good and the sandwich was tasty. We’ll be back soon to dine in and check out some more of the menu.
