So far i’ve had my rook and conch done at Off Ya Tree and I’ve only had good experiences the lady who does the piercings is very nice and I always get nervous before piercings so she helped calm me down and she did the piercings so quick too. Also they are probably the least expensive piercing place I know it’s only about $ 20 for most ear piercings $ 30 if you include the cleaning spray and very professional considering the price, I’ll be coming back next time I want another piercing. :)

I was at a PR function at The Greenhouse(ironically enough) when I met the girl with the emo hairdo and tatts aplenty who was telling me that the synthetic weed ‘Kronic’ was just about to be made illegal and that tonight(that night, several months ago) was going to be the last night it could be bought from the shop she worked at — this one. I accompanied her after the PR gig; she was fun, cute. The shop itself was way warped in design and of course full of stoner product like bongs, hemp clothing and other interesting devices. After a sweet word in her manager’s ear, I was offered the left-over Kronic for 50% off. Did I stock up? That’s for me to know and you to find out…

Now I may have a fair few piercings, but when I walk into Off Ya Tree wearing a pink cardigan looking bright eyed and naiive, I tend to get a few funny looks from the staff and punters in the store, wondering if I took a completely wrong turn. So while I might not be wearing some death metal t-shirt and dyed black hair, the staff are still amazingly nice and friendly and keen to help me with what I’m after. The store sells an array of things, from band and movie posters to similar t-shirts and collectables, over to bongs, vaporizers, and through to jewelry and accessories. I’ve gotten three piercings here now and each time has been great, it’s generally a spontaneous decision so I wander in hoping that someone is available and there generally is, and if not I’ve just gone shopping for ten or so minutes and come back, no hassle. The room out the back is sterilized to the max and completely hygienic, every instrument used to pierce your skin is out of a packet so there’s no worry of infection. While I’ve never really had a painful experience being pierced, I tend to get nervous right before they stick the needle in, and the guys here have always been very reassuring and great at helping me relax. It definitely makes the whole experience more enjoyable when you can chat with ease to the person poking a hole into your ear or wherever. Their prices are also very reasonable and they always make sure you have good aftercare for your piercing and you take care of yourself. If you aren’t one for the high street stores selling the same things, then head down into Off Ya Tree’s basement, wander around their cabinets of bizarre and random items, and have a chat with the interesting staff, it’s a pretty fun place to go.
