You seriously need to go back to your old-fashioned fabulous service. The phone contact system is hopeless, and you have hardly any staff. This is why people shop online!

David Jones is and will always be a class act. The black and white houndstooth logo is as distinctive and as classic as the store itself!
The flagship store on Murray Street is well merchandised and all items are displayed to their best advantage. There is also a sense of light and space with plenty of room for customers to stop, admire, browse and buy.
What I love about David Jones is the fact they stock high end international as well as local brands. In the fragrance section you will find La Prairie, a world renowned brand not found elsewhere in Perth. Spoil yourself and buy a bottle of Silver Rain, you will be glad you did. Also stop and be soothed by the calming effect of the wonderful aquarium in the La Mer section, complete with colourful fish and crystal clear water! You feel refreshed and rejuvenated as you are lulled by the graceful movements of the beautiful fish!
In the fine china area you will find Spode, Waterford, Royal Albert and more. It is an ideal place to pick up a gift that will delight the recipient. It takes the time and effort out of shopping as you can always find what you are looking for.
On sale days, especially the famous Boxing Day sale, you will ‘shop till you drop’ as the bargains abound! There are also VIP shopping days throughout the year, complete with bubbly and tempting treats!
If you need to take a break from your shopping, there is a fantastic food hall on the ground level where you will discover food from the all over the globe. You may be tempted by the offer of fresh oysters and a chilled, dry white wine, a hearty bowl of spicy laksa or a simple coffee and a delicious cake.
The staff at David Jones or DJ’s as it is affectionately called, are all well trained and dedicated to customer service. They make you feel ever so special every time you visit, so there truly is — ‘No other store like David Jones!’.

The best thing in my opinion about this David jones store is the extended trading hours. I love that I can pop in after work and stroll around without watching the time.

The down stairs area has seating for eating, there’s coffee, cakes, hot and cold food and drinks. Stuff you can eat there or take away.
Prices are on par I think with Myers. Designer clothes and cosmetics. Definitely not for those on a budget. That being said they have lots of specials which make things a bit more affordable.

When I’m out and about doing some shopping/​window shopping I always make it a point to stop off here to at least cool down and grab a beverage from the food hall. They have a few“reduced item“bins scattered around the place. Yesterday at the food end of the ground floor they had meat rubs discounted from $ 13 to $ 3 so I got a few of those so steak night this week will be good.

I went to David Jones and bought loads of new things on sale! They have some really nice things there, especially homewares and designer fashion. The Bed and Bath section is a personal fave with lots of beautiful Country Road ‘Heath’ towels and Sheridan bedding. The hot tip to buying expensive things for a good price is to wait for the end of year/​end of financial year sales :)

I came in looking for a nice suit and was very pleasantly surprised to find a good selection and knowledgeable staff. In the end, I bought 2 Sportcraft suits that will work out nicely. The sale price meant I even got them for less than a grand!
The two things that keep DJ from getting a 5 star…
No in-​store alterations. C’mon now… make me take it to the tailor?
Secondly, the staff will only sell you what is in their department… if something is better suited (pardon the pun) in a different department, the salespeople seem to shy you away and keep you in their area…

As far as homewares go, they have amazing sale items. Like previous reviewers said, the prices are quite obscene but you can still grab some extremely good buys during sale time.
Luxury label garment and accessory items… goodness. I love that they stock almost all available Ferragamo styles but even with the sale sticker, there are still better deals online, as is the case with most designer labels. Unless you’re in a REAL hurry to get something, do your research on the web. WA tends to get all of the seasons super late so by the time we get a certain item, it’s already on sale in the rest of the world.

Great for designer wear if you compare to Myers. Unfortunately they have dropped burberry, bvlgari and sass and bide, so it looks like they may be turning into Myers…

I could wander in this stupid store for bloody hours! Why you so awesome, David? I can’t stop looking and buying and looking some more.
Food, chocolate, kitchen stuff, décor and wonderful frivilous things that you don’t need but you buy anyways. That is the heart of David Jones. It is the kind of store that you walk into and say ‘I’m not going to buy anything and I mean it!’ and leave with five bags full of, well, stuff.
But nothing comes cheap at the Jones. Between their speciality/​imported food items and their designer design thingies, you’ll be sweating bullets at the checkout wondering if your card is going to say ‘Are you f*cking kidding me? No. Declined.‘
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for an extra special gift for someone or yourself, David Jones will provide you with endless options. Everyone loves it and I’ve never regretted a purchase I’ve made there.

I can’t imagine shopping for actual goods at David Jones. The prices are on the obscene side, especially when comparing them to Amazon. I do love the layout and cleanliness of David Jones. Walking around, mainly around the eatery area and looking at all the expat grabs, is a fun way to spend a Saturday.
For expats, items galore: Big Red, Dr. Pepper, Aunt Jemima syrup and mix, Mrs. Buttersworth syrup, specialty sauces, and Libby’s Canned Pumpkin (yes!). There are plenty of specialty items for the Brits too!

This is a fantastic place if you are looking to get genuinely lost in an expensive maze of beige; every wall and surface is a shade of the same colour and unless you’ve been here before, it’s easy to lose your sense of direction as you walk from one side to another.
That being said, this is a much better department store than Myer and I often shop in here if I’m in the city. The perfume section is much better organised than Myers and is actually pleasant to shop in. Their menswear section is angled a little too tightly at men who regularly play golf and hang out at yacht clubs (and is priced accordingly), so I don’t often buy clothes here. There’s a few café’s in here and sometimes it’s nice to hide from the heat of Perth summer in here with all the Claremont types and a bit of cheesecake.
The real win at David Jones is that when you’re looking to buy larger items, if you do a little price research online before you head into the store, they will generally match prices. Customer service is generally of a very high standard here and you may as well enjoy it if you’re going to spend a lot of money on an item.
It has to be said though that the best thing about this place is their truly kick arse Christmas decoration section. I went in during the boxing day sale this year and completely refitted my house for next time around. They have some seriously weird and wonderful decorations in there. It’s not cheap though; we’re talking about $ 10 average per Xmas tree ornament, but they are extremely cool.
This is a great department store for more expensive household items but is not great for clothing. Still, worth checking out.

If you’re after designer clothes, accessories, make up and so on and aren’t afraid to pay close to ridiculous David Jones is perfect for you. It is a haven for all luxury items that are hard to find else where and everything is always immaculately merchandised teasing you to buy something.
They really have a vast and wonderful selection of things that many would melt before but I for one cannot understand why someone would pay close to double for the same item you can buy online for half. For those who have the money I guess it’s a question of convenience but for those who are saving to buy something designer a bit of advice you could probably buy two of those online!
What I do really like about David Jones however is their food hall and my weakness their mounds of delicious chocolate and their wonderful stand of Byron Bay Cookies which sells the most amazing macaron’s I’ve had in Perth. Be sure to try the passion fruit and chili macaron it is close to what I expect heaven to be.

David Jones landed in Perth a few years ago, offering competition with Myer. While smaller than Myer, they also have items to cater to almost every need, and there is also a quality food court on the ground floor.
The items on sale at David Jones are generally priced well outside the budgets of most shoppers. It is not uncommon to see a lovely dress before noting it costs $ 300, or a bag costing $ 500 and beyond. The same goes with most of their items, plus some of their kitchen utensils have an arcane design which future archaeologists would have problems deciphering their purpose.
David Jones is interesting to see what too much money can buy, but unless there is a major sale happening, it’s not worth buying from the place.
