This is where you can go to get your US travel visas, notaries, etc. You are required to make an appointment (either online or by phone), so don’t just show up expecting to walk in. They get busy and it takes about a week or two from when you get in contact with them to actually secure your appointment date. If doing this online, be sure to bring a printout of your appointment date & time.
I had to make a trip here recently to get some stuff notarized and it was a bit of a process. Upon entering the building, I saw a helpdesk and was told to take the elevator up to Level 4 for security screening. (Note: Make sure you give yourself ample time between security screening and your actual appointment time).
There were a couple of people standing at a door to the screening room. They only allow one person in at a time to screen. You are NOT allowed to bring phones, cameras or electronic recording devices so they provide lockers to store your belongings. After getting the security all-​clear, I had to take the elevator up to the 10^th floor to head to the notary department. You wait until your name is called, go up to the glass window booth and hand over your passport and paperwork to them. While I was waiting for my name to be called, I could see a young lady requesting for a US travel visa and she was being grilled. Big time. They ask you a million and one questions so be prepared.
All in all, aside from the security process, they work quite efficiently. I was out of there within half an hour. Oh and it’s quite easy to get to via public transport. Most buses running along St Georges Terrace stop directly in front of the building.
