I have half a day to spend at Parramatta today while waiting for somebody to meet and I felt like something lazy to do. With no working internet currently at home due to the storms and rain we had a few weeks ago and waiting for repairs, I decided to take the chance and bring my laptop in for some internet fix catch up. It is my first time here and I joined up despite living out of area. The initial service so far has been excellent. The librarian at the counter explained to me about how to book in for their computers and wow, there is no charge. I am using my own computer though and there is no password, no time limit and no download limit. Woot! Woot! Woot! I don’t think it’s fast enough for gaming or watching online movie sites such as Netflix but I forgot to bring my earplugs with me so who knows? I’ll have to bring them next time though. Worth trying out. It is a two level library with stairs. I don’t know if there is any disabled access for moving between floors. The best place for using their internet is upstairs. There aren’t many places to plug your computer into and take note, the plug is very close to the floor for those of us who have a fat bottomed powerpoint for the computer. A man sitting near me lent me an adaptor so I could recharge mine in the wall. An extra Woot! It’s comfortable and quiet as they possibly could be for the construction sounds happening but not at a level of discomfort. Four stars. If they ever add a decent little shop for sandwiches and drinks, I’ll increase them to five stars.

The Parramatta City Council Library is a short walk from the main post office and Parramatta Westfield. It’s a pretty large facility with books, magazines, DVDs, etc. The second floor is usually full of school age children studying(or something.) I usually just reserve books online through the Parramatta City Council and pick them up once they’re ready.
