I always have an enjoyable time when i visit hooters. The place is fun and everytime i go there is always some birthday or celebration happening. The space is massive and if your a sports fan then there are TV’s everywhere to satisfy your sports cravings. The food is tasty — american style menu and i freaking love the crunch onion rings and the burgers. If you dont mind seeing young girls with tight clothes then come here

This gets a 5 from me mainly because I’ve been on the search for the best chicken wings and as far as my Sydney search goes, Hooters has them. I drove all the way there(45 minutes from Eastern suburbs) because my friend had recommended the wings. I see I am not the only one who has ventured here for wings. They were not as good as the ones in North America but I have written an entire blog post about my wing search and these were by far the best. The crunch was there, the sauce was almost there and while the ranch dipping sauce didn’t quite have the thickness and flavour of North America, the wings came with celery and carrots which made them the closest thing you can find. We actually shared the buffalo platter which came with chicken strips, shrimp and wings and all were tasty. We had a side of curly fries just to ensure maximum caloric intake and they were good too. The server was friendly and checked on us more often than many places I have been to in Australia. They were all quite pretty as one would expect. The overweight, balding male managers added a certain Je Né Sais Quoi that just added to the whole experience. I will go back for sure!

I went here with an American friend because we were both craving for buffalo chicken wings.(Sometimes I really miss living in the US… sigh.) Anyway… The wings were good! My friend commented that these were the most American buffalo wings she’d had so far in Sydney, and I agree. Based on my previous King St Brewhouse experience where I easily scarfed down 20 wings(and could’ve had more…) I decided to order 20 wings too. I didn’t realize that the wings were bigger here, so I could only finish 9… but at least I was able to have wings for dinner the coming days. :P We ordered wings in medium, hot, and spicy garlic. Unfortunately they don’t have garlic parmesan(which is my fave) so I settled for spicy garlic. Things I learned: — The«medium» tasted just like a regular fried chicken wing without anything on it. When my friend clarified spiciness levels with the waitress she was like, «oh the hot is really hot, I can’t eat too much of it» so my friend went for the medium because she didn’t want to numb her tastebuds with the spiciness. But then we realized that Aussies don’t seem to have that high a tolerance for spicy food, because the«medium» wasn’t hot at all. — If you’re looking for«regular» buffalo wings go for the hot. Under no circumstance should you order the medium. Unless you’re a wuss with spicy food. — So… we got charged extra for sauce, which was annoying. My friend said she wanted ranch. I said I wanted ranch too, so I clarified, «so that’s two ranch.» For some reason the waitress put us down for an extra ranch sauce, and when repeating our order didn’t make it clear. I didn’t think anything of it because each plate of 10 wings came with a li’l tub of ranch sauce, but apparently the order of 20 wings only originally comes with only ONE tub of ranch. Annoying. — The key lime pie is not a key lime pie. The photo showed a lovely key lime pie with a graham cracker crust. Instead, what came out was this pie with a light-colored crust, flatter than the photos, and it was drizzled in strawberry sauce. We would’ve forgiven the presentation if it tasted key lime-y, but… it did not taste anywhere near what a key lime pie should taste like. There was barely any tartness to it. We brought it up and pointed to the photo and were told, «oh that’s the American version… this is the Australian version of key lime pie.» I acknowledge you can’t get key limes in Australia but this pie was just not right… it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t key lime pie, and marketing it as such was wrong, and explaining the difference by saying it’s «Australian» key lime pie is wrong. It was misleading for them to put a photo of the«real» key lime pie on the menu when the reality was totally different. Fortunately, the manager took it off our bill. In summary: — Don’t order the medium. Go for the hot. Or hotter. — Don’t order the key lime pie if you’re expecting key lime pie. — When putting in your order for sauces, make sure you’re not ordering any extra because it’s an extra $ 3.95 for a tiny tub. Service was all right I guess. The girls were friendly and the manager was nice too. You could tell she really wanted to keep the patrons happy. There’s parking available on site, which was not full that day(Sunday 1:30PM) though I don’t think it’d be enough if there was a full house. It’s a bit tricky to get to though, you have to enter through the petrol station.

Waitress was Rebekah. Very friendly which has been the norm for Aussie landers. Great layout for watching sports

After helping a friend move in nearby we all went to hooters to see what this potential local would be like. I don’t think we’ll be making this our local though. The bar and diner is much like those in the States, with plenty of big screens around the room showing each of the Fox Sports channels, and a number of booths around the room with their own individual screens. The staff have similar attire and engage with customers personally in a loud and fun manner(challenging though as the bar music is pretty loud). We were seated pretty quickly and drink orders taken. A couple of beers and a juice later and we ordered some food — tater tots(lots-a-tots), two texas burgers and a normal burger. The tater tots were tiny — and reminded me that I was in Australia. The burgers were served on a small board with a small handful of chips. Beef patty was dry, without flavour. The picture showed a burger stacked with onion rings, but our burgers had one ring… yes one onion ring! The kitchen seems to be super tight with their portion sizes, and the quality didn’t seem to be there. Service was friendly enough, although after delivering our mains seemed to forget about us when we were trying to get some further drinks. There were 3 – 4 birthdays being celebrated in the room, and the waitresses would sing happy birthday and get the customers up for some embarassing dancing. They were successful in creating a good fun atmosphere. Hooters talks the talk, but didn’t deliver on this occasion. It has the veneer of an American diner, but you discover the true value when you receive your food, and then the bill. Give it a shot if you like, but don’t expect too much.
