A shadow of its former life, this hotel nestled in the Perth Hills has finally managed to shrug of the rough and tumble image of previous years, to become a warm, welcoming family friendly venue with heritage type atmosphere. The food is always decent(maybe not high end but good wholesome pub food) and certainly value for money. They have a good range of beverages to choose from and the staff have always been welcoming. A solid regular venue for me.

Great for a Sunday arvo. Relaxed vibe. Music a little loud but nice to have some live tunes!

Lovely lovely food. Came up to Parkerville for the 10th Light Horse service, popped in for Sunday lunch and the tavern did not disappoint. Got here early and it filled up yet service was fast and friendly.

Haven’t stopped in at the Parky for around about 12 months, the place has had a facelift and appears it may be under new management, great set and blackboard menu with daily specials. Dining room, beer garden and alfresco veranda areas to eat, drink and be merry. Live music and happy hour. I had the beef and Guinness pie, nice fluffy pastry and awesome flavoured filling, and two sides @ 25.00,got to say I was a impressed overall for great pub food.

Sunday Roast(Pork) was on special and very welcome after a day of 4WDing in the Mundaring state Forest. Everything about the meal was delicious. Best roast meal I’ve had in years.

Out for a ride and lunch with a new«immigrant» to Perth from the East(I know … someone new to Perth… there’s a shock…) and decided to take the long ride home from the Tradewinds in Freo — via Kalamunda and Mundaring Weir Road … So as we were out this way and headed over to Toodyay Road for the run back up Reid to the Coast I felt it about time I renewed my acquaintance with the«Parky» and give my new mate an insight into one of the lovelier old Heritage pubs within 30kms of the city… The externals and the vast grassy open areas are pretty much the same as they have been for the past 100+ something years but got a bit of shock when I stepped in to the newly renovated bar area … whoa!!! yep you can tell it’s under new ownership… polished concrete floor, matching(new) tables chairs, revamped(and flash) range of on tap beers/ciders… and new staff…(same old pool table in the front bar — but looks like they’ve added a few LEDTV’s around the walls …) So the feeling I got was mixed — on the one hand it felt like walking into a modern, urban pub(think The Brisbane etc) but still not quite as slick… or cohesive… on the other it still had that«bush» type feel with the big verandahs, high ceilings and grassy/treed areas that make you feel like your a 1000kms from the big smoke… There was always a good mix of people every time I’ve been before… but somehow it felt a bit«different» … still not the Brisbane Hotel or Queens crowd… definitely somewhat more casual and fewer fashonistas, more your outer suburbs/semi rural clientele that ranged from 60 something couples sipping Wine & Gin’s to family groups in flanno’s …one of which I observed had lost his arse somewhere as he was drinking Bundy & Coke from a can whilst artfully holding onto a pair of Levi’s and walking around(presumably looking for said arse to prop up his jeans that had slipped to somewhere near his thighs?) … but all in all friendly enough and no one bothered anyone else, just quietly sitting on the new flash bench tables, under the big gum trees having a chat and a laugh … Being on a ride and having had lunch and a coldie earlier at the Tradewinds I passed up the opportunity to sample anything more than a 3.5% Hahn but will be back with the beloved to see if the famous Parky Steak Sanga has been retained … or improved??? Stay tooned …
