funkis is an Australian design company based in Sydney but with a strong Swedish influence. Part of our range includes some of the best Swedish and Scandinavian design on offer, complemented by our own Australian made designs in fashion, jewellery, fabrics and home-​wares.

With clothing from Marimekko, Uimi, Rodebjer and homewares from Iris Hantverk, Spegels, Mud and Normann there is something for everyone in our stores. Undoubtedly though, our trademark items are our clogs and sandals handmade in Sweden from natural veggie dyed leather and sustainable plantation timber.

We have two Sydney stores with our flagship store located in Paddington and our other store in The Strand Arcade– Sydney. We recently opened our first Melbourne store in the Strand Arcade.

History

Established in 1996.

funkis opened its first store in 1996 in Bondi Beach and quickly became a favourite for Sydney stylists and savvy consumers. The collection was mainly Swedish Design such as Bruno Mathsson and Bla Station and Kinnasand but we also sold other Scandinavian designs such as Marimekko, Le Klint and Arabia. Many of the designs we still sell today as part of the original range. By the time the magazine «Wallpaper» did its first Sydney Guide and funkis was selected as a must see «highly edited Scandinavian design store», funkis second store was already in the making.
