Great little spot, quick and cheap menu with high quality coffee and service. A great alternative to the busier spots in Paddington as it doesn’t tend to get packed out due to he location. There is also lots of parking availability

«Made with love» said my friend of the affordable breakfast wrap that my tastebuds could hardly fathom. Each bite was like rapture, my friend promptly bought one as well. Ever heard of a ‘Banoffee?’ it is the a solution to an often lunch time dilemma: coffee or smoothie? It’s a banana smoothie with a shot of espresso. Perfect! The Interior decoration is warm, with autumn orange, mustard and greens. Lounge chairs and regular tables are available inside, smaller seating arrangement at the front outside as well. The food is so well priced and delicious and as far as I know, it’s the only café in that area short of Paddington. I highly recommend a visit.

Fox and Rabbit has all the ingredients to be an absolutely awesome little café, but for me it just didn’t hit the spot. Maybe I’m becoming old or cynical or pessimistic or something, but I’m just a bit over cafes trying so hard to be unique that it’s just plain inconvenient. Straw baskets turned upside down zip tied to a piece of wood painted with funky patterns to create a table… Okay, that’s cool, I see what you’re doing there… But, it’s just not convenient. It’s small, wobbly and too low to actually eat off. Again, maybe I’m becoming old and cynical but I just don’t see what’s wrong with a good old regular table. I felt the same about the warm cucumber infused water on offer… I see what you’re going for, but it kind of just tasted, well, warm and slimey… There’s nothing wrong with regular water! I get the whole unique, funky café thing, I do. And when it’s done well, I love it. But there’s nothing I hate more than going to a café and it being more inconvenient than eating at home. What’s the point? Our food was served without cutlery and none on the table, no teaspoons with our coffees, sugar on the table but no salt and pepper. No table numbers so another table was given our food and we were given their food. When we ordered they didn’t have a register, which is all good, but they didn’t have a calculator either so we had to wait while the guy attempted to add up four breakfast and coffee orders in his head… I do have to give them props for having a cheap, affordable menu though. The food was pretty good value for the price, but not fabulous enough for me to be dreaming about going back. The coffee was good. Would I go back? Probably not. If it was closer to my house I would probably go for a takeaway coffee as it was quite yummy, but it’s not conveniently located for me and the experience was a bit lack lustre so I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.

Name of café incorporates two twee animals? Tick. Interior is a mash up of thrifted and retro furniture and prints? Tick You find yourself imagining this space in the pages of Frankie? Tick Coffee served in old-school china tea cups? Tick Have we seen a café rolled out like this before? You bet your bottom dollar. It’s formulaic but yet something different for this area of Paddington where polished and renovated Queenslanders, sleek Range Rovers and Black Amexs might reign supreme. The coffee is strong and gets better with each sip. My burger is semantically challenged. It arrives on two slices of sourdough and my mind instantly thinks, «Sandwich not burger.» Yet as I say: semantics. The beef patty is rustic and plays well with the addition of sauerkraut. As I sink further into the green velvet lounge and spend time watching the world go by on Kennedy Terrace I see the charm of Fox & Rabbit. Formula tweeness or not, this spot is kind of cool.
