What a place! Best Breakfast in Brisbane hands down. Flute has been around for many years, and I’m so glad they are still going strong after being around for so long. I’ve been coming here for about 5 years? And they’ve still been consistent with their food quality and service. Every time I’m back in Brissy, Flute is always one of my first stops. Their poached eggs are some of the best that I’ve had in the world(if not THE Best). I can say that I use Flute as a benchmark every time I order poached eggs/eggs benedict because they just have it down right. So what to order here? For breakfast they have a great selection that changes within the seasons, though again you can’t go wrong with their poached eggs, just perfection. Just get something that has that in it. For lunch, I’ve only had lunch here on maybe 2 occasions, the only thing I remember having was a walnut salad which was just divine. And yes, they have GIANT cups of coffee. You can ask for things in bowls. Don’t be ashamed, you know you want to. Highly suggest getting the bowl of mocha or hot chocolate. Yep. Do it. Service staff have changed here many times over the years, but I’ve never once had bad service. They were always polite and are even happy to split difficult bills for large tables. I used to ask for salt all the time, as I like to salt everything even if they’ve already salted it for me, I’m glad to see now that they just bring it out to every table without asking. And yes, it is proper rock salt. They can get busy for Sunday brunch especially, but the wait is never ridiculous like some other places, usually 10 – 15 mins. Though if you have a big group, do the polite thing and call ahead so they can set a table aside for you. Parents, they also have baby-cinos and high chairs for the little-ies. Prices are very reasonable. Around 16 – 20 a meal per person. Overall, I love this place and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Friendly staff and a beautiful place to sit and eat. I’ve only ever been for breakfast, but my partner and I are both definitely fans of the bowl coffees. The breakfast omelette is unbelievable. In fact, thinking about it makes me hungry.

Flute: you were my ‘local’ for many years before you forever earned a soft spot in my heart. You see, you were the place my beau and I had our first date. We nervously drank our coffees while beginning to learn more about eachother. He was surprised at your ‘large’ coffees which were delivered promptly in soup bowls. He’s a hot chocolate drinker so you can imagine his delight at the shot glass of melted chocolate that comes with your frothy hot-chocolatey-goodness. You’re good at many other things too. I’ve tried to recreate your turkish toast many times at home but never to the same success. What’s your secret? Paired with smashed avocado or your home-made preserves. Delicious! I’ve visited you for breakfast(my favourite) and lunches and you’re yet to disappoint. I always leave satisfied and never asking for more. Yes, you’re a little pricey but it must be working in your favour as I see the lines waiting to visit you every Saturday and Sunday morning. I sometimes get a little jealous that I miss out on seeing you on the weekend but hold comfort in knowing I get you to myself Monday — Friday. Plus, would the Rosalie cycling community keep coming back if you weren’t THAT good? My hot tip for your Flute adventure: arrive early, enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a few coffees. If you’re in a rush, don’t think you can’t take a little of Flute with you. They’ve just started take-away breakfasts.

Apart from serving up gourmet brekkies that have created their fair share of buzz, Flute do great coffee as well. To their credit they are one of the better extractors of Segafredo Zanetti I have encountered. The popular Italian roaster tends to feature the stronger robusta beans in their blends, and when improperly extracted the result can be intolerably bitter. But these guys know how to use their San Marco espresso machine well, and the result is a full-bodied and slightly fruity brew which goes down a treat(and packs a bit of a buzz if your hanging out for a pick-me-up).

Breakfast here never disappoints although it is a little pricey. Arrive before 8:30 on the weekend or you may have to wait… And none is going to want to rush eating their simple bacon and eggs with crusty toasted Turkish bread and molasses bacon! If you feel like some chocolate in your coffee, definitely try the mocha!

Flute has a reputation for offering some of the best gourmet breakfast/brunch food in Brisbane and I quite frankly agree. This place knows how to make something simple like bacon and eggs look impressive. I ate here on a Sunday morning(after a big Saturday night) in large need of caffeine and food. I must admit, I was a little shocked when I saw glanced at the menu and saw that this place charged $ 17 for their bacon and eggs. Nevertheless, I ordered this meal as I had cravings to attend to. When I received me meal, I realised this was no ordinary bacon and eggs. What I had in front of me was a tower comprised or Turkish break, four to five portions of rasher bacon and two eggs drizzled with tomato chutney and pesto. It. Was. Delicious.
