Woolridges is one of those places you only have to go once a year and most of the time that one time can scar you for life. As a kid we would go to Woolridges in Ossie Park for our school textbooks. The stationery here is expensive, much cheaper to go to Big W or Kmart. But unfortunately the textbooks that you have to have can only be bought at a few places. Woolridges being one of the main ones. In January this place is chaos. The parking lot is absolutely full. There are kids and parents everywhere with lists of needed supplies. It is hot and packed. Not my idea of fun. Now you can send them your booklists and they will put them together for you. Great, you think that will be better. But of course everyone else has done that as well. You don’t have to run around trying to find the right books, but you do have to stand in a line until you can pay for it all. It does help that because you have stood around in a daze waiting in line for so long you don’t even register shock at how much it is costing you. You just want to get out of there. The shock will hit you later at home.

Woolridges is the one place with all the school supplies you require; well its suppose to be. For countless years, thousands of school kids and their parents, including myself, lined up in Woolridges warehouse, scrummaging for the books and equipment listed on our school book list, we would fight over the last copies most probably because we were so sick of standing in the 40 degree heat we turned nutty. More often than not, Woolridges would be out of the books listed because their was such a high demand; soon my mum and I were over the dreadful experience and only purchased the necessities off Woolridges that were not available anywhere else, and even then we did it online. It seemed a much easier process going into a cool, air conditioned shopping centre to grab the stationary(generally cheaper too) I needed and leaving the rest to delivery. Don’t waste your time and energy, order online and skip the queues — I didn’t need to go to school to learn that much.
