I had heard about Twisting Peacock from a friend, and it’s really close to home, so I thought I would give it a whirl. Their 50% hot/Bikram vinyassa and 50% yin class looked the perfect mix of a challenge then relaxing and working on your fascia, so I booked in. The studio is above a gym just next to Mitchell Freeway in Ozzie Park. The studio is nice enough, with access to the gym’s change rooms and cold water fountains. You can use one of the studio’s yoga mats for free if you don’t have your own. The class’s instructor had a lovely way about her, and had a very gentle and calming voice, which I think is really important as an instructor. The dynamic first half of the class was quite challenging. I’m not a yogi in any way shape or form, so I wasn’t expecting to nail all the moves, but I felt like there were some moves that all of the class really struggled with and even the instructor had a little trouble pulling them off. It would be great if they offered a few variations for each person’s level of expertise. I also thought the first half of the class didn’t have a great flow. Most yoga classes I have attended you move from position to the next position easily with some sort of intuitiveness, but this class seemed to lack that. I might go back and try some other classes and instructors.
