Description

Specialties

Specialist diagnostics and treatment for pets. Perth Veterinary Oncology is dedicated to the highest level of care for animals with cancer, from accurate diagnostic tests, to the development of compassionate treatment plans and effective palliation to improve quality of life.

History

Established in 1999.

Dr Ken Wyatt FANZCVS initiated the first veterinary medical oncology practice in Australia in 1999, initially at Murdoch University. As more and more people have realised the ability for a range of treatment options to improve or maintain quality of life in their pets with cancer, the practice has grown, and recently outgrown its initial base. All consultations and treatments are now only performed at Perth Veterinary Specialists, a new multi-specialist veterinary hospital in Osborne Park.

Ken W.

Business Owner

Ken graduated from Murdoch University in 1990 and after a few years in Perth general practice gained Membership to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in 1995. Following a residency at Murdoch, with an externship at Massey University in New Zealand and further experience in the US, Ken successfully gained Fellowship to the Australian College in 2000. (It is this qualification that allows application for the recognition of specialist status. There are currently 7 other veterinary oncologists in Australia, all on the East coast except Dr Amy Lane, also at Perth Veterinary Oncology.)
