Someone at this restaurant sold their soul to an otherworldly being for this falafel. This falafel, this falafel right here, is the best I have ever had. If you live in Melbourne, wherever you are this place is worth the drive. The hummus and Israeli salad are solid staples and well above average. The service is lovely, I don’t think I’ve gotten the same two servers since I’ve started frequenting this combination Israeli deli/Buddah Bar, but some how the owners manage to find friendly, lovely folks as wait staff. The place is small, but they have outdoor seating at the front and the back and this all contributes to the charm of this little gem in Ormond. Apologies for the photo of the half eaten Mediterranean Platter, but by the time I got my camera out the Falefel monster across from me had gobbled most of it up.

Every time I come to Gili’s I am blown away by how good the falafel is. Seriously, do yourself a favour and try it. The grill platter for two is also fantastic. The space is a bit small and it’s a casual brunch/lunch place more than anything but god damn, that falafel.

Really good food. Very friendly, not expensive. I would recommend this place to everyone.

When you go to Gili’s you know that you are going to get the best food on the East side of the tracks. I went there the other day and had the falafel. I think that some of my taste buds that lay dormant came to life that day. The flavours were so good that I know have to Unilocal at the top of my(how does this saying work on a keyboard not with real lungs?) lungs so everyone knows about these falafels. Instead of the question«would you like fries with that?» the new question should be «Would you like Gili’s Famous Falafels with that?» I think that would become the easiest upsell in the world.
