We had a large party booking for a family function, and we chose this location because they could seat us in our own private room. On arrival we were met and told that there was a problem with the gas supply in the kitchen and that they couldn’t offer us a full menu. They were able to offer us platters of sandwiches, antipasto, salads etc and even offered to provide the first round of drinks and sharing platters(or book is in elsewhere) due to the inconvenience. We stayed and were very happy we did. Lovely staff, delicious food, and a great environment.

If you’re from Sydney the garden of this place is very similar to The Winery in Surry Hills. Great place, great food and great local wines by the glass. I can see that it would get really busy and with a few different areas and buildings in which to eat I can see why other Unilocalers have said to specify which part of the venue you want when making a booking. As it wasn’t too busy I just hung out in the garden and only one part of the venue had been reserved on the night. I only tried the chorizo plate and a glass of wine as I’d already eaten down the road at Percy’s. The chorizo was dressed in a mustard aioli with honey and coriander had just the right mix of sweet and spicy — definitely recommend it. The staff were happy and really helpful as well.

This spot has great potential. It has an amazing beer garden — or is it a wine garden? A nice setting for a drink, with an excellent local wine selection. The staff are friendly enough. But I never know whether I should expect table service. I have had it once, but not every time. Just assume you order everything at the bar unless told otherwise. Unfortunately, the food always just seems to miss. Tonight I had the mushroom, leek, pea and chicken risotto, which had excellent flavour, but the rice grains were still hard. The first time I have even had under done risotto in a restaurant!

Birthday dinner was spent here with big sister and her husfriend. Sister had booked ahead(thankfully) as it was quite busy, despite the chilly weather. The venue has an array of seating areas including the cosy bar area with the open fire and magnificent bar; the outdoor garden and the extension garden that is quite open(see photo) and which has open fire pits surrounded by bench seating in the colder weather. We shared a variety of small plates and each of them was noteworthy. If it’s on the menu, I find it hard to bypass a scallop, so the seared scallops on the cauliflower purée were music to my eyes and magic on my tongue! We also had the delightfully spicy buffalo wings, the sliders of the day(Cajun chook) and the prawns. They were all delicious. Sis and I had a lychee martini each, which was a perfect offset to the spice in the Cajun and the buffalo wings. B-I-L ordered a wine from the fairly extensive menu by the glass. Showcasing the local wines, naturally, this spot seems to tick a lot of boxes. I was quite surprised by the other reviews as I found the service quite sufficient on the night and the food was certainly value for $ and perfectly presented. Judging by the quantity of prestige 4WD’s spinning around town, Orange is a spot for the posh weekend jaunts. Bookings are probably recommended. But please note my additional tip.

This is a great place for nice glass of wine on a hot summers day. They have a delicious range of wine. And the cellar door has a fabulous range of wines from all over the Orange region. The reason for only 3 stars, is that the food can be a bit hit and miss due to the changing menu. I’ve had some amazing meals, and some average meals. Bu the beer garden is great, which almost makes up for it!

Great selection of local and imported wines. Ambience is good and staff/service is also great! Make sure you get there before 9pm if you want to eat — they are quite strict with closing the kitchen on time!!!
