So maybe I was influenced by the quantity of Philip Shaw Pinot Gris I had at lunch, immediately before winding my way to the cellar door. And maybe I was feeling all warm and fuzzy and deserving because it was my birthday. But I am sure not regretting purchasing a mixed case of wines, for just over $ 200, from Philip Shaw. We were greeted with what I felt was unfeigned warmth as we entered the tasting area. We were ushered to the couch and provided with tasting notes, glasses, a spittoon and a bottle of water smoothly and promptly. Despite it being busy, we were taken through the list(skipping a few along the way) with ease. We were happy to admire the views out the window, or look at the interesting art on the walls between tastes. Both my sister and I bought a case each. I didn’t need any encouragement. The wines tasted terrific and will suit the styles of cuisine I like to cook at home. Without me even mentioning it was the birthday festival, we were offered a baker’s dozen; a 13th bottle. I had the case posted back and tucked number 13 under the arm for ‘ron. Happy days! NB: Free delivery of cases anywhere in Aus. Bonus!
