This was my first floatation experience and I was really looking forward to it. I have to admit it was slightly intimidating walking into the room for the first time, but the staff were very helpful in explaining the entire process. Why not give it a go!
For newbies to the treatment, get ready to feel all sorts of emotions. I do not meditate often so I was hoping to fall into a nice sleep easily. Of course, being someone who does not sleep well, I knew this may prove challenging. The warm water and soothing music helped me to feel at ease as I turned off the blue light into the darkness. If you don’t think about your body being inside of the pod, then you feel like you are in space, in the ocean, and in bed.
The salt water stung my blistered feet a bit on first entry but soon my entire body felt calm and painless. When the music ended, I found myself trying to focus on slowing my heart beat and listening to my breathing. My thoughts slowed but brought up a range of emotions and soon my thoughts turned into dreams. I wasn’t quite aware when that transition happened but before you know it I heard the music again. What at first seemed like a very long time getting my mind to rest now seemed like a quick moment waking up. Readjusting to my surroundings took a minute to locate the light button but opening the pod was quite easy.
The room has everything you need before and after the soak. Private shower with shampoo/​soap, towel, earplugs, and a place for your things. You will need to go into a separate room to dry your hair and use a shared bathroom. The lighting is dim in both areas which can make it hard for reapplying makeup.
There is a nice waiting area for water or tea and cool futuristic chairs that help to readjust before returning to the real world. I am glad I bought the introductory 3-​float special. It’s a calming experience that feels like it should be a part of my daily routine.

If you are open to trying new experiences, love to explore natural relaxation and meditation techniques — then the Gravity Floatation Centre is a great place to start. Being a relaxation and natural therapies enthusiast, the concept of floatation intrigued me.
A friend surprised me with a floatation experience for my birthday. We walked into the centre that was spacious and welcoming with a peaceful waiting area. We were asked to relax with a cup of tea (there were two on offer) or water whilst our treatment rooms were prepared. We sat in the pod like chairs which enveloped us as we imagined what the floating experience was like. The thought of being enclosed in a pod initially made me nervous but my curiosity won. One of receptionists led us to our individual rooms where we were shown the pods and briefed on what our experience would be like.
After showering, I inserted my ear plugs and entered the warm water (body temperature) of the pod. The pod was illuminated with colour changing lights that were both calming and inviting. After closing the pod, I turned off the lights which immediately created a private, pitch black but calming space for me to float. Initially, my mind raced as I thought about whether I would actually switch off and be able to relax in the enclosed space… but the calming effects of the warm water and the feeling of weightlessness soon took over as I became aware of how relaxed I was. Soon I was drifting off to sleep… my state of sleep was so deep that I didn’t hear the music come back on at the end of the session. It was the movement of water through one of the jets that made me realise my time was over. where did the hour go? I reluctantly sat up, turned on the light and opened the capsule feeling totally at peace and relaxed.
Having had skin concerns for most of my life, I was well read up on the benefits of salt therapy. My hair and skin was so soft leaving me happy and smiling. The facility has shampoo, conditioner, body wash and even make up remover wipes to complement your experience.
Will I be back? — Yes! I’m already thinking about when I can fit in another session.
This is one indulgent experience I can’t wait to have again. I feel relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to face the world again!

I’ve done around 10 floats in total now and these guys have a great facility. The tanks they use are a great size and of more a spaceship design rather then the coffin types I’ve used before haha. The staff are ultra friendly and will get you up to speed on how to float. This review isn’t concrete on specifics but more my experiences.
What I see floating is for your mind, is similar to when your Macbook or pc is in desperate of a reboot but instead you hit the sleep button. So finally when you do reboot you realise your machine functions better and is more responsive.
All those people into meditation should definitely try it out as I believe it can be a used as a tool to get into that meditative zone quicker due to minimal distractions from light sound and gravity. There are claims from sources reporting they have improved creativity to which I have not personally experienced though. I like to think floating is like when Professor X uses his helmet to really dial in his telepathic powers lol. Only floating helps dial in your meditative state.
The use of Epsom salts in the tank to produce that floating effect must have benefits to your skin to which I’m not clued up on. I’ve also read spending an hour in the tank is potentially equivalent to 4 hours sleeping.
Getting friends or family to try floating hasn’t been easy I’ll admit because it’s just not very well known to most people so there is hesitation or responses of «I’ll just Meditate in a room myself». But to open minded people or life hackers who like to try new things or invest in their own brain, body and soul I couldn’t recommend giving this a shot enough.

Yay! Totally a fan of this place. After purchasing an intro offer of three floats (3hrs) on a bit of a whim, I have now been drawn into the total relaxation on offer here. The idea is you spend a minimum of a full hour inside one of the space age style pods floating in salt water. You have the option of lights or no lights and a calm wake up once your hour is over. The salt water causes you to float without any stress on your muscles, with the added benefit of 35*c water, you really feel like you are on a cloud.
Gravity Float include an additional 15 mins either side of your appointment to shower /​change etc… plus two types of tea are on offer at all times for a quick re-​refreshment.
Just remember, don’t rub your eyes whilst in the water ;-)
