I didn’t know much about the Greek Orthodox church before I met one of my fabulous friends, Elouise. She is the Greekest person I know. Being Roman Catholic myself, I was curious about the religion which was developed only a stone throw away from my own beliefs. And to be honest, I loved it! I went to Greek Easter at the Saints Constantine and Helene Greek Orthodox Church in Northbridge and was surprised to find out Greek Orthodox is a lot like Roman Catholicism except instead of Greek, we use Latin. It was an amazing eyeopening night nonetheless. The cathedral was absolutely stunning rivalled by none of the Catholic churches I’ve been to in Perth. It was more reminiscent of an old-school church in Europe. Outside hundreds, if not thousands, of devout Greeks(and one Italian) dressed to the nines, waiting to pray. It was fabulous. If you’re about next year, pop past and join in the amazing vigil that happens just outside the Church.
