AMF Bowling

Made a booking for 20 people for two games on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, many people in our group were late and there were only seven of us who were on time.
The old lady in the counter gave me a hard time about keeping the lanes we had reserved as apparently they were having a busy day with people booked in right after us and people coming in not getting any lanes because of us. So the seven of us who were there had to start right away in fear of having our precious lanes taken away from us.
We were given two lanes amongst ourselves. A short time later, more people from our group arrived and they were able to secure a third lane. Two more people came soon after wanting to play and they were allocated to two of the lanes we already had.
We finished our two games pretty quickly and by the time we left, there were so many empty lanes without people coming in to play on them so I left doubting if they were really as busy as the old grumpy lady made it out to be.
I wouldn’t come back to this place just for that reason alone. There’s bound to be better service elsewhere.

8 of us embarked on a friendly match of bowling yesterday afternoon. Whilst it was a friendly match among the 8 of us, the same friendliness was not able to be extended to the staff at AMF Bowling. We had to wait 5 minutes for the pins to be set correctly at the start of the game as only 5 pins came down. Later our game had to be paused twice more as the machine stopped functioning and the pins didn’t come down. There were another two instances where pins were cleared without us having bowled. AMF clearly need check that their machines are operating effectively to avoid such disruptions.
That being said I did end up getting a ridiculously high score for someone who’s never bowled over 100 in her life. Bonus star for that!

What is it with teenagers and bowling? My theory is that, it is one of the few sports/​activities open till late night and that’s what makes hanging out with friends after hours fun.
Friday night is usually more crowded than other nights and I generally avoid going on weekends. It’s quite hard to get a lane immediately and waiting times can vary between 5 minutes to 25 minutes, inspite of AMF having around 40 lanes.
Definitely a very popular place, it has good music and lighting. They have glow in the dark bowling on Friday and Saturday nights. Conveniently located with ample parking, makes this place even more sought-​after. Their special offers are pretty popular and worth checking out online before heading in.
I love blaming my terrible score on the fact that I rarely find the right ball.
