Like a timber lean-to that sits 10m from the beach front, the 360 degree view from the Adelaide Oval Function Centre romantically whisks you off your feet to a paradise of luxury leaving the minor details like the true functionality of the space as mere blips on the radar. With over 20 different function spaces available for hire, you could easily cater for board meetings, seminars, large conferences, weddings or functions at this facility and each room gives you a beautiful view over the city or the lush green Adelaide Oval. I presented in this facility recently and attended a conference and the service is top notch from the audio guy to duty manager and waiting staff in between. In the main rooms the huge multiple TV and presentation screens + surround sound were high class, however the smaller rooms facing the oval don’t really seem to be designed for hosting presentations. These rooms were long and narrow and only had one TV screen precariously placed either left or right of centre, so if you had more than 50 people in the room some would be cranking their neck to see your preso. They are really more suitable for small meetings or as the corporate boxes they are designed to be. Food and beverage packages look quite competitively priced, although the basic buffet lunch was pretty much the norm sandwiches and wedges. It was lovely to actually be able to sit outside in the grandstand for lunch on a sunny day though! Getting in the building is easy, getting out was just truly baffling. Escalators only ever go one way on one side of the building and you have to find the other escalators on the other side of the building or a lift to try and get out. But all this pales in comparison to the beautiful large spaces available for hire with their views showcasing the beautiful skyline and oval of our city.
