A classic Newtown local! Awesome flavours, my fav icecream cannoli, great cakes and the best vanilla affogato in Sydney!
The vanilla and dark bitter chocolate combo is a must-​try, or the Belgian Chocolate if you prefer it a bit more subtle. Another few everyone must try are their caramel (dulce de leche), the salted caramel and the all fruit gelatos: berries, lemon, and a super delicious passion fruit gelato that the kiddies just love! :D

It’s a fairly meh experience at Gelato bars these days unless you go to some of the independents. Newtown has a few offerings — some right next to each other which tells you it’s at saturation point. But it’s summer, so they are still getting traffic. This one has average flavours but I can recommend the black chocolate — that’s delish. Their service leaves something to be desired, but perhaps because it’s so hot they were a bit droopy.

Greatest gelato in the neighbourhood!
Ive been coming to Gelatomassi since it opened. Other than the phenomenal gelato, the service is top notch. All of the many many (more than I’d care to admit) gelato flavours, desserts and coffees I’ve had here have been perfection.

Don’t let the chill of the freezers fool you, this gelato bar oozes warmth and genuine friendliness. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and a compliment.
‘Hello gorgeous, what can I get you today?‘
For seven years I have been visiting Gelatomassi (unfortunately for my waistline, sometimes on a daily basis). It is the only place in Sydney where I count myself as a regular (and happily, my loyalty has been rewarded with the odd free scoop or extra special birthday cake over the years).
Thanks to the ever changing flavours and new concoctions, there is always something delicious to try. From lychee to blood orange, Tim Tam to Zabaglione, the boys at Gelatomassi know how to whip up damn fine home made gelato.
My best advice is to grab a few scoops and park yourself at one of the sidewalk tables, where the people watching is almost (but not quite) as good as the gelato.

Simply delicious, freshly made Gelato. Just what you need after a great dinner or on a scorching sunny afternoon. They have a large variety of flavours and this seems like quite a popular place as its always very busy.
Situated right in the middle of Newtown’s funky cafes and hip joints is Gelatomassi.
Each time I go there I am wowed and I can’t just imagine that someone has made these amazing ice-​creams from scratch. Love the Belgium chocolate and the Ferrero Rocher flavours.
They have these 10 $ tubs which are good value for money. Another amazing flavour to try is Lychee flavour which is out of the world. love it. It’s a must go place for ice creams. They do have a variety of products including milkshakes, smoothies and great coffee too. And to add to all this — They are open till midnight.
