An awesome little restaurant! Tons of vegan options, including all sorts of pasta(shapes and sauces). It is a little pricey but the food is delicious and fresh. They weren’t busy at all when I was there on a Thursday evening, so the service was very fast. I had a Rocquet Salad and it was amazing: very simple, but inexplicably delicious. I also tried the Margherita with vegan cheese and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it tasted. It was a little heavy because of the nut cheese, but that’s to be expected.

The food here is great! We had the Mykonos and Calcutta pizzas. Both were so tasty. I would definitely go back there again. The prices were decent, not expensive but not super cheap. Very well worth it. Service and atmosphere were alright too. I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates Italian food.

My little vegan cousin(the one with the home-made Russian prison tattoos) is in town from Perth and chose this place for his 18th birfday din-dins. I was all like, great, I’mma have to eat some vegan stuff and pretend its as good as normie stuff but nope, this place caters to all(including you coeliacs!) And boy, is the food good. I had this cray penne with Italian sausage, crunchy, slightly bitter red cabbage and lentils, and spicy meatballs in rich tomato spicy sauce with garlic ciabatta. The others had various pizzas, all of which were macking, with quality ingredients and wood-fired bases. Service-wise, we waited a while for our food, and while the waitress was sweet(it was only her 2nd day, and she tried very hard to be helpful), we were only told after 15mins that one of our entrée choices was unavailable, it really shoulda been scrubbed off the board both before and after we were told. But that’s small potatoes on an otherwise rad experience.

Finally a place that offers a vegan pizza menu! This place offers both meat pizzas, vegetarian pizzas and vegan pizzas as well as optional gluten free bases. The food we ordered was delicious, the vegan cheese they used(‘notzerella’) was perfect and the garlic bread was tops. The restaurant has a warm pizzeria feel and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Definitely going back there again!

Basil pizza is the vegan and special dietary needs pizza place in Newtown. You do not have to go without pizza, just because you are gluten intolerant, or are vegan. At Basil you can order pizza with gluten free bases in the large size and there are plenty of very interesting variety’s of vegan pizza like — Roasted vegetable pizza, Vegan Pepperoni pizza, salad with red beans and artichokes. So it’s got a great range of gourmet vegetarian and uses other influences like Mexican and Greek to add to the range. The regular size is approx $ 12(small) the family size is approx $ 22 whatever you get on it. There is a $ 2 delivery charge and the order has to be above $ 20.

Basil pizza and pasta is an Italian pizza and pasta restaurant on King St, Newtown. I really like this place, I went in here with my wife at about ten pm when they were about to close and were really nice and stayed open for us slightly longer than usual. Their garlic pizza which costs an extra $ 2 when you buy a large pizza was incredibly tasty-I think I enjoyed this more than the pizza itself, crusty, light and full of flavour. The pizzas were good and the staff incredibly helpful to find a tomato based alternative for my wife who’s allergic to tomato paste. The pesto based pumpkin pizza she ordered was great as was my mexican. Great to see a pizza store as well that does vegetarian and vegan options for their customers.
