This was probably the closest thing to a solid large grocery store I’ve found in this town. It had a decently broad selection, a variety of toiletries and household items, and plenty of stuff on sale. My grocery dollar went farther here than elsewhere that I’ve tried. It was busy, but well-staffed and free of long lines. It is part of a decent size shopping complex, with another food market(more of a farm-to-table thing) across the way. It’s also accessible by the handy CityGlider and ferry. Seems like a good place to do some shopping.

Sushi? Check. Huge bakery? Check. OPI nail polish? Check. Various healthy ready-made salads and pita wraps for a quick lunch? Check. Huge health food and international foods aisles? Check. Fancy trolleys that ACTUALLYMOVEWHEREYOUWANTTHEMTO??? Check! This Woolies has it all, and it knows it. It was like a paradise for us coming from our crummy miniature convenience style Woolworths on Oxford St in Bulimba. So much range! So much choice! I love it. We’ll definitely be coming back. Any excuse to shop here will be used.

This Woolworths is intoxicating. I know, I know. You’re thinking, «What kool-aid have you been drinking to think a supermarket is intoxicating?» Well, for starters it’s brand new and the lay-out, products on offer and lighting are, I’m convinced, all designed to make you feel comfortable and comfortable to spend up. From the farmer-market inspired fruit and veg section to the brightly-lit health and wellbeing aisle full of demographic-specific products like chia seeds, maca powder and protein concoctions, to the in-store sushi bar and café — this supermarket is a rabbit hole. One step through the doors and you’re falling down a steep spiral of supermarket wonder. I popped in very quickly for only a few items and came away with half a trolley. Such is the power of shrewd marketing and specials(and lack of my willpower). For now, the novelty is still there and it’s actually a decent supermarket to shop without frustration at other shoppers.
