I walked up to the patio entrance and was welcomed as if I was here every Sunday! The place is pleasant inside and out and very comfortable. The menu has lots of options including making your own way. I chose the Plank. Yep I was definitely PLANKED for brekkie! Poached Scotch egg wrapped in mince lightly fried then baked! Along with potatoes several links and thick cut bacon. Plus fresh bread toast and butter. Topped off with a large Flat White! Great Sunday breakfast and a wonderful local spot for hanging out. Lots of families here and so relaxed! I got here a little before 0800 and by the time I left the place was getting really busy. Excellent. Enjoy!

I had a rough morning at work and stopped here because it was conveniently located. They had a nice patio which was definitely a draw. Its important to note that I had lunch here and reviewed based on that. While lunch prices were reasonable I did see that the cost of breakfast items were quite high in some cases. The waitress was really pleasant and attentive. I got the lamb and tabouleh dish which turned out to be delicious! I was worried lamb would be too heavy for lunch but the earthy tabouleh and lightly sweet beet hummus made it perfectly balanced. I returned to the office in a much better mood! Overall, coffee was good and lunch was great. If youre looking for breakfast food on the cheap you may want to go somewhere else.

Great food. Very fresh and healthy. Had a Subday brekky here and ordered the Breakfast Bowl — a nice mix of fresh salads/veg, poached eggs and grains. All up the food was good, service fast and friendly. If anything, a little on the steeper side price wise but not over the top.

Going against the grain here — this place isn’t that fabulous. Coffee is good, took ages to make it out to us. Food was also fine. I had avocado on toast and added a poached egg. The bf had the bacon and egg focaccia. Everything was tasty but super average, just nothing special of different to talk about. Also lost points for the price… $ 18 for avocado on toast?!? What?!? The setting is nice and it’s great to see Newy get some nicer looking spaces. But we are consistently finding that the standard of the actual food is super average. And the prices are crazy — we came away from breakfast for two with coffees only just shy of $ 50! Worse than Melbourne or Sydney. It’s worth checking out if you’re a local, and a great space to meet with friends for coffee, but we won’t be back to eat again.

Fantastic coffee … Went there twice this weekend for breakfast. Atmosphere is nice and food was really good. Great portions. On Sunday’s they have s DJ playing beats :) I had the pea and haloumi fritters with salmon added on YUM and my husband had the plank, he was stuffed. Day two I tried the snickers waffle, more of a dessert than breakfast but who cares ;) hubby had the bacon and egg roll.

Great service and cuisine. I had the breakfast plank and it was more than I could handle. Coffee was excellent! I will be back for more.

The old Juicy Beans café(same owner, just energised and ready for a change) has recently reopened as Blue Door, and it’s fantastic. The theme is ‘simple done well’ and the eat-in and take-away menus are both excellent. Everything possible is sourced locally(one of the perks of living in the Hunter) and everything oozes freshness. The breakfasts(lots of vegetarian options) are a little more expensive than cafes down the road, but they’re different to anything down the road. There’s a spicy Spanish-style breakfast with chorizo and hard boiled eggs rolled in fresh herbs and chilli. So, good! A lot of the drink options are the same as old Juicy Bean(good coffees, Botanica juices, fresh fruit frappes) and they’ll all excellent. They also have these great raw sweets which are gluten and dairy free. It’s still adjusting to its new identity but it’s good and I think it will only get better.
