Loved Pablo! Best bloody mary I’ve had so far in Brisbane! Check! The open face sandwich with pancetta and proscuitto, picked veg and salad(and cheese)_ good and hearty — check! Service was great! Minus one star for the musty food smell inside the café! This probably cannot be helped, but I’d prefer my hair not to smell like brunch all day! ;)

Pablo might be tiny, but it’s mighty! Punters are often seen standing on the curb from 9am on weekends, waiting for a table to free up, so get in early! Think far beyond eggs benny and you might get an idea what Pablo is about. While the smashed avocado with local artisan toast and smoked trout are menu staples, breakfast options are updated every season, so there is always something new to try. Run by Michael and Amy Bates and their super friendly staff, Pablo is a true New Farm local.

Cosy café with good coffee. Not the biggest fan of their green tea but the smashed peas with holumi and speck more than made up for this. Inventive and tasty can’t wait up try their other breakfasts.

Well, I’ve got to say I expected more. It’s not to say Pablo was bad because it wasn’t but it didn’t live up to my expectations. The place itself is quite nice and given that we were sat out front on the street I barely even registered street noise. Parking was a cinch though it is paid meter parking which I don’t mind in the slightest. Our coffees arrived quickly and were actually quite good. The chai latte was also delicious. We waited a good 20 minutes for our food to arrive which isn’t too bad on a bustling morning. We had the savoury mince and the roasted portabellos with herb crumb. The savoury mince dish by all accounts was good but you had to eat every element together. If you ate the mince just by itself, it didn’t have much going on. While it was a generous serving of mince my dining companion noted that for the price and the size of the dish he would have liked a second egg. Minor complaint there though. The portabello mushrooms were good. They were cooked well, a generous amount of crumb and they were delicious. The dill scrambled eggs were also delicious and they didn’t go easy on the dill which I loved. I adore dill! The overall dish wasn’t exactly as it was described on the menu. They described a herb crumb with chorizo and all these delicious flavours and all I got was… crumb. Plain old crumb that didn’t taste like the groundbreaking crumb described on the menu so I was a little disappointed. The service was just okay. And as much as I hate to use this word to describe any place, Pablo is a bit of a hipster establishment I feel. In saying that, it wasn’t bad. In fact, I’d like to return and try another dish to see if I can change my review.

On a Easter Monday morning at 8.30, I knew I’d be in luck grabbing a table because the New Farmians are still in their 1000-thread count sheets nursing their craft beer hangover. The coffee was great. The food wasn’t perfection, but I had to pick on something as niggly as ice crystals in my homemade ice cream and lack of seasoning on the avocado toast. Not sure if being a public holiday, the staff left their smiles in bed, or if this is the general sass that goes with the fact they will be busy no matter what. Despite my apparent negative post, my guess is I had high expectations for perfection based on word of mouth, so they still get 4 stars. Watch out for the vegan atheist who demands all butter be somehow banished from fried mushrooms, and moves tables three times around you.

I felt so cramped in here! It’s obviously popular, so perhaps some additional space would be nice? And the breakfasts are delicious, but in my opinion not the best breakfast in New Farm. I ordered something similar to a toasted turkish, crumbed portobello and scrambled egg tower, and was satisfied nicely. The coffee was fresh and delicious and although the service that day consisted of one guy running around trying to wait on 8 tables, we still felt that he was trying damn hard to do as best as he could. I would say its definitely worth a try to make up your own mind about it.

Thanks to everyone on Unilocal mentioning the egg-free brekky options i ended up at Pablo on a very busy Sunday late morning. good staff, nice vibe, great menu and good coffee! They do breakfast til 2:30pm and lunch from 11 so plenty of menu to choose from… i had the Avocado & Haloumi with mango salsa cos as if you wouldn’t. It was real good you guys– could have been a bit bigger but the dish was made to fit the bread which was cut from one of those ridiculously small artisan-type loaves. Why can’t artisans make bread in regular sizes or at least larger than a really big baguette roll? Get your shit together artisans! Anyway, it was delicious. I was hungry again an hour later but the flavour was divine. You’re alright Pablo.

Yup, Pablo just bumped itself into one of my «Top 5 Places to get Avocado On Toast» I had a pretty blissful moment this morning with their avocado on sourdough with a basil, mango & tomato salsa with grilled haloumi, pink salt, Maleny avocado oil and fresh lemon. I thought I might regret not ordering the breakfast trifle but not remotely possible. Everything was balanced, no one flavour trying to outdo the other. The salsa is so soft and delicate and with the mango — a true Queensland summer staple. Note to self: try to recreate said salsa. You probably won’t and have to come back here. No regrets. This, with a(Genevose) long black with HMOS, set me up for a day of errand running. The staff were polite, friendly(thanks for lending me a pen to jot down my to-do list for the day!) and my meal was delivered to my table quite quickly. Thanks, Pablo. It’s taken me a while to visit you but I know I won’t keep it that long between visits next time.

As an «out of towner» I was looking for a good breakfast place that could show off in Brisbane. I read a food bloggers write up and Unilocaled it out which gave a few different reviews. All in all I was in love when my cabby dropped me off — Pablo just warmed my heart as soon as I entered the store! Lovely staff, great coffee and a beautiful breakfast menu that’s is executed well. I don’t eat eggs for breakfast which generally limits me to a couple items on a menu however this was not the case at Pablos! Definitely go check it out yourself!

My lovely lady and I decided to visit Pablo after reading great reviews. We love our Sunday Brunches and this seemed like the perfect spot. Pablo is a little on the small side; and when quite busy I felt a little cramped. But not so much so that I was touching elbows with the next table so not too bad. I ordered the smoked salmon and dill scramble on sourdough toast and an iced latte. My partner ordered confit portobello mushrooms with dill scramble, feta and chorizo crumble on rye and onion toast and an iced chocolate. Less than halfway through our meals we elected to swap as I couldn’t handle the overpowering salmon flavour any longer, and she wasn’t keen on the taste of her dish. Even after trading we still couldn’t complete our meals — to me they seemed over seasoned and too rich for the small to average portion size. If was to come back to Pablo I would probably stick with a fruit/muesli breakfast or French toast as our meals just didn’t appeal to my stomach. Too much going on to appreciate the individual ingredients.

As we drove past Pablo on a lazy Sunday morning I looked in wondering whether or not we would get a seat. Out front seemed packed, and as we hesitantly walked through the front door we spied one uncomfortable looking table right near the counter. After standing unsure for a few minutes we were eventually led to a table by a young male server who gave off the impression he had better things to do. As I sat and looked at the menu I was impressed by what I had to find. Not your stock standard foods, there were many a flavor infusion to try. From mint zucchini smashed peas to mango basil and tomato salsa. I finally settled on an iced chocolate and confit portobello mushrooms baked with feta and chorizo crumble with dill scrambled eggs and rye and onion toast. My stomach actually just grumbled as I wrote that. Meanwhile we had some complimentary water brought out. So the iced chocolate was looking good, if on a light side of chocolate topping. It tasted, oh wait *takes a sip*, mmmm tasty. I prefer a big glob of topping in the bottom rather than the milk and chocolate mixed up but each to their own, and there was some on the sides. Oh and the topping is defs tasty, mmm. Now I wait for my breakfast. I always fear, when getting iced chocolate, that I’m going to fill myself up before my meal. But sometimes I just want it! Breakfast came not long after and it wasn’t quite what I expected, though not sure what I did. For one, I couldn’t tell where the chorizo was. And there seemed to be a salsa on the edge that I would have thought twice about getting. But it was nice. Mushrooms has a good flavour, as did the feta — even if it was scarce on the plate. On tasting each others meals my partner and I decided to swap after half. Now in front of me was smoked salmon scrambled eggs with dill on sourdough. I really enjoyed this, but I can see why we swapped — the salmon has a really strong flavour that can get a bit much at 9:30am. I actually stopped half way through(that makes it a quarter, folks) because it was too rich. All in all was a fine experience. It was hot inside but fans were on. It was also quite loud, though we were seated next to the kitchen. It’s not that big a place, so theres a limited menu. That being said it’s an interesting menu so I’d at least recommend having a look. Be aware — the meals are deceptively large! It didn’t look like much on the plate but *clutches stomach*. I’d come back but only if whoever I was with was really keen to try it.

With patio and outside seating, the inviting and laid-back atmosphere of this café makes me want to read magazines in a sundress and sip on a cup of their milkshakes or chai lattes. Their course presentation is also trendy, using mini wooden cutting boards and stovetop pots, giving it a rustic feel. The best part, though, is that they play my kind of music! For me, that pretty much was the cherry on top. Their chai latte was quite good, with lots of cinnamon [just the way I like it!], and I’d like to try their milkshakes… The waitress was quite friendly, but on a busy Saturday, their service was slow. Yeah, they informed us that it would a bit slow, but we waited for a good 20 – 25 minutes before our food came. No bueno. Anyway, I figure they have a changing menu from time to time, but I feel as if their menu can be a bit daunting to the normal eater, with terms like ‘speck’ and ‘bubble and squeak’ and a lengthy name for each item. We really didn’t know what to order, and ended up ordering two items, both served in stovetop pots. I got the savory mince from the breakfast menu, which was pretty good, as it had speck(which is apparently Juniper flavored ham), chorizos and spinach, served with crème fraîche(I think it had dill in it). Wowie, it was filling… and I wasn’t even hungry for dinner! The other item, from the lunch menu, was toulouse handmade sausage cassoulet, slow cooked with root vegetables, beans, tomatoes and herbs, with(seeded) sourdough. The latter was just a bit too tomato-y for me, and I thought it was rather bland. The savory mince wasn’t bad, but having a whole pot-ful of it was a bit too much. I would suggest sharing any of the items that are served in a stovetop pot, just for the sake of variety…

Was very excited to be able to try Pablo for a late breakfast recently on a weekday. It’s got great reviews and it’s awesome that they serve their breakfast menu until 2pm. Their menu was impressive and after careful consideration, I chose the Goats cheese & dill omelette with roasted brown mushrooms, crispy bacon, tomato relish and onion & caraway bread. Much to my disappointment, the omelette looked like it was cooked in a at home omelette appliance. It was too thick, and the egg was overcooked. The flavours of goats cheese and dill we’re overpowered by the egg. The coffee(Genovese) was really enjoyable and the waiter looking after me was friendly and helpful. I will definitely head back in the future, and try one of their many menu options without eggs(brioche French toast sounds amazing!)

I love this café. Friendly and down to earth staff. Food is a little OTT if you just want something simple like eggs on toast. Great coffee and the Banoffee Pie is fantastic(some people have even ordered it for breakfast!).

Pablo just has to be my favourite café right now, I’ve eaten there numerous times since my first visit in April(the most recent being yesterday). Pablo rules over all other cafes that are in the same area. Just about every morsel of food that has passed my lips here has been perfect, however their antipasto platter which is on the menu at the moment is a true favourite, generous in size and variety. Oh by the way, you can get breakfast all day(well until 2.30pm). The service is always great, food comes out quickly, the menu changes frequently to add a bit of variety and their drinks are fabulous. I haven’t tried the coffee here, as am not a fan of strong Italian beans like Genovese, however they stock a range of loose leaf T2 teas which is very important! Its a tiny little tucked away place that is easily missed, but I am constantly seeing rave reviews about Pablo popping up everywhere, 1) this makes me jealous that other people have eaten the food here because I want to eat it all and 2) I don’t want other people to find out how good it is because it will make it harder to get a table! Best spot to eat is the high stool seats on the little balcony which overlooks the street.

Dear Pablo, I LOVEYOU. xoxo, Mem. What? Not enough? Fine. I stumbled across Pablo around the start of 2012 and after having been back at least once a month since then, it’s running a fair chance of taking out the Brunch Championship 2012(this event plays out in my brain only). I’m one of those awkward people who loves brunch but doesn’t really love eggs. Do you know how hard it can be to find a variety of brunch options sans eggs? All I’m saying is when I go out for brunch, I understand how it must feel to be a vegetarian. «Ooh, this looks deli– oh, eggs. Oh, maybe I’ll have th– oh, eggs.» Of course, unlike vegetarians and meat, sometimes I just suck it up and have eggs. NOTATPABLO. Agh, there is such a variety of delicious(all day) brunch options at Pablo that don’t involve eggs, and it makes my heart sing. Not only that, but I’m fairly sure most brunch-lovers wouldn’t mind the lack of eggs when faced with such delicious things as smashed minty peas and ricotta on sourdough, deliciously flavoured savoury mince(making a recent appearance on the new winter menu), or brioche french toast with roasted figs and turkish delight ice-cream? Wait… why haven’t I tried that one yet?! Dear Pablo, See you again real soon. xoxo, Mem.

Ay ay ay Pablo! Where have you been all my life? Ignoring the familiar Australian breakfast battle cry of EGGS, BACON and MOREBACON, Pablo has a refreshing take on breakfast fare. The menu items do taste as good as they sound, I love the smashed pea and zucchini on sourdough(with ricotta, lemon and chorizo.) and the creamy vanilla and lemon Bircher muesli. My absolute favourite find has to be the fluffy and filling, scrambled eggs with salmon and tomato chutney. (Your stomach can thank me later.) This place also makes an exceptional brew and the service is prompt and friendly. An altogether lovely café, Pablo is the perfect little spot to soak up a hangover or enjoy a lazy brunch.

Yesterday I popped into Pablo with a couple of girlfriends for the first time, and was pleasantly suprised at what this little place had to offer. After the obligatory 15 minutes of catching up and completely forgetting to look at the menu, we finally ordered. A solid game of scissors, paper, rock ensured we were all getting seperate breakfasts and could gluttonously taste something from everyone else(these are close friends!). I ordered the brioche french toast with poached pears and honeycomb pecan ice cream, and let’s just say I was highly satisfied! The meal was the perfect size and balance of flavours. My friends had the avocado on sourdough with grilled haloumi and mango salsa, and the lemon and thyme beans on toast, both of which were delicious, and both of which were slightly different to the average Brisbane breakfast menu. Our coffee was great, and the lady who served us was attentive and lovely. Overall Pablo was an excellent dining experience. I will definitely be back soon to utilise the Wi-Fi and embrace their breakfasts until 2.30pm. Yum!

Pablo, which opened its doors earlier this year, is a recent discovery of mine. Tucked in across the road from the New Farm Coles, this cosy little café is easily missed. Although Pablo looks tiny, almost like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, the inside is far bigger than expected and there is also a small balcony area for those who want to enjoy the fresh air while taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi. The menu veers slightly off the beaten track of breakfast fare, with a small but varied range of meals. They all sound delicious, and I can personally vouch for the avocado on sourdough(with haloumi and basil and mango salsa). There are also a variety of sweet treats on display at the front counter. Past specials have included a delicious savoury mince, baked eggs with chorizo, and lemon and thyme beans with eggs and speck bacon… slightly more mouth-watering than your standard bacon and eggs. The coffee is good, the food is deliciously different, the service is friendly, and it looks like little Pablo is here to stay.
