Your first consultation will not be about assessing your skin(which is crucial!) and advising the best procedure for your type, but it will be a simple sales pitch. You wont find dermatologists in this place, which is quite misleading considering that the place is a clinic! Their staff are primarily young girls straight out of the schools and it seems with very little experience how to operate the laser or IPL machines or knowledge about the procedures & skin types. First I had the herbal peel which left my skin itchy and super dry for a month. During the procedure I asked the girl what it’s made of, her reply was: «I don’t know, but I do know you can eat it!» The warning bulb should have turned on for me right there. I tried to cancel my second treatment, which was IPL but with little success. They would not return my money, even though I didn’t have my second treatment done yet, using the standard excuse, «it’s the company’s policy.» Unfortunately I went ahead with the IPL and I can’t describe what a life changing experience it has been since then. That was January(2014), it is now October(2014), 9 months after the treatment and I still deal with the aftermath of this dreadful procedure. I have dry, lacking elasticity and with deep dented skin. I have a few hyperpigmented patches, deep folds around my mouth, oversized pores all over my face, a couple of smokers lines above my upper lip, loose skin also on my neck & a damaged platysma muscle. As a result of the IPL treatment and the stress it caused me I also developed eczema on my scalp, blepharitis on my eyes and devastating depression. The treatment was done too aggressively on my face, the skin was simply seared in my case. In addition I also developed a skin infection. At NO point was I informed of these potential side affects of their IPL procedure. This should be standard practice as it is with any medical procedure carried out by a doctor. There is more to the story, once they do the damage to your face: — you will not get any before photos from them(in my case apparently they got lost) — you will not get the information on how strong the settings of the machine were used — no refunds — or simple apology for the mistake. You are on your own with your damaged skin I have never smoked in my life, don’t suntan(use broad spectrum suncreams everyday and hats) as I have a fair skin(northern European). I was 38 at the time of the procedure with no history of any skin problems. I went to IPL because I had a small(about 6 mm) brown patch on my right cheek due to hormone changes after my baby, and a bit tired looking skin between my eyebrowns but no vertical lines. Otherwise I had a smooth and healthy looking skin. The irony in this sad story is, I have never had any other procedures done, IPL and the peel were my first. I don’t even do facials, prefer a good massage. My advice, choose the place wisely when you decide to have any non invasive procedures done to your face! Check, if the treatments are done by a professional dermatologist. Talk about all possible side effects with the doctor, including skin inflammation, how to decrease the oxidative stress after IPL(the IPL’s bad side effect is not only visible burning!), ask for before and after photos. Do thorough research, have plenty of questions ready for your consultation! For $ 500 for both treatments at Image by Laser I signed myself up to a damaged skin and an incredible amount of worry and devastation. Learn from my mistake!

I had Laser Hair removal on a part of my body a couple of years ago and I was really happy with Image By Laser. The staff were all very friendly and the process was pleasant enough. I am not 100% happy with the results, but I think this is more of a criticism against the process, not this store in particular. I didn’t have the best results, a few years later and I find the hair is not as thinned as it should be. But my hair is quite light and apparently the best results happen for people with pale skin/dark hair. They offer a free consultation, so if you’re considering hair removal or another treatment, pop in and see them first. They also offer packages for Laser hair removal — pay for 3 treatments and get a 4th for free!
