I will first validate my position by saying that yes I have been to Barbeku both very sober and also very very drunk. And every time I’ve had an amazing experience each time I’ve been by this kebab shop. Nothing really satisfies those late night munchies like chicken, vegetables and your choice of sauces wrapped up in a warm pita. The meats are always very tender and the lettuce, tomatoes and onion are freshly laid out. On occasion, I’ll also ask for the tabbouleh which has just the right amount of garlic and herb. The guys and gals making the kebabs are also very friendly and patient. Once the order is placed however, they execute with absolute efficiency. Barbeku for sure is one of the few places that I would recommend for late night cravings on a consistent basis.

So hot and fresh and delicious! This is just a little corner take-out kebab shop, with only 3 or 4 tables if you want to eat in, but don’t underestimate it. The menu and drinks selection isn’t large, but the quality of the ingredients is excellent. And you don’t even have to fight for a park on Brunswick St, as they share a large car park with the Night Owl and Pizza Hut.

Tasty food in a simple setting. There is nothing overly special here, but the service is very friendly and the food is definitely fresh. If you’re looking for a Turkish snack or small meal, this place is a good choice. Prices are apparently unchanged since 2012 as I paid $ 9 for my chicken kebab.

New Farms seems to be the hub of all the places to eat around Brisbane, as even the little fast food-y places like Barbeku reside here. One of the non-café eateries around New Farm, Barbeku is a simple Turkish ‘bistro’ that serves kebabs, as well as some plates like Charcoal Lamb Shish. It’s no fancy place, but the place was simple and clean. I didn’t have lunch, as I was studying and running errands, and so I had a late ‘supper’ at 3pm. I ordered the Chicken Kebab(9), which comes with all the usual works — tomatoes, lettuce, and free sauces to choose from(hummus, garlic, tomato, etc.). The kebab was nice and hot, and really fresh. The meat was tasty(and there was a whole lot of it!) and it was really quite filling. It’s simple and good as a grab ‘n’ go food, or you can sit around outside, drink and play a card game like some of the dudes were doing when I was there.
