I just had to add my 2 cents here — yes, this fruit shop is full of perfect, often imported fruit, however they also support local growers where possible particularly with the green leafy veg. As someone who adores cooking they have the hard to find vegies I need — and coriander root! Weird I know, but supermarkets sell anaemic bunches of coriander that are hydroponically grown and usually completely without roots. The roots are an essential ingredient in Thai cooking(which is an essential cuisine in my tummy) and I can always count on All About Fruit to have giant, proper bunches with giant roots. I can also count on them to go out the back at closing time and rummage at the end of their packed store room to get me herbs when they’ve already packed them away. Customer service like that gets my vote every time.

Sorry to be the hater here, but I don’t know what all the fuss is about. All about Fruit makes me seize up with fury. Having been born into a line of farmers, I can only look upon picture perfect fruit with contempt. Do you know the amount of fruit that is thrown out by farmers because city people don’t think it looks good enough to eat(even though it’s absolutely edible in every way)? Too much! In my opinion, All About Fruit is raved about because they know how to market fruit well. The stocks are always plump and full, some of the fruit looks like it’s dosed with a light water spritzer every couple of hours. It actually looks too good to eat if anything. Some of the stock is arranged by colour coding, and so it’s as stimulating to a consumer as a rainbow coloured mobile is to a baby. All about Fruit is over priced, and I daresay it’s because their fruit isn’t local, and they pay top prices for the prettiest fruit(while perfectly good fruit and veg goes to waste on the farm, grrr). My advice would be to go somewhere cheaper where fruit and veggies look like they’ve come from nature rather than a manufacturers, and it doesn’t cost you a pretty penny. Buying staples shouldn’t make a big dent in your pay check.

One thing I will never understand about Merthyr Village is why its patrons do all their fruit and veggie shopping in Coles when across the way there is All About Fruit, which sells a huge range of fresh produce at similar, if not cheaper prices than the large supermarket chains. Why people? Are you that lazy that you can’t do your groceries at more than one store? Sheesh! OK, rant over. But seriously, All About Fruit have it down to an art. Fruit and veggies displayed in an attractive way, all clean and fresh and wholesome. And there’s a juice bar attached to the store! Score! If you are one of those super silly people who can’t be bothered supporting local business over buying all your groceries in the same place than shame on you… make a change and buy your produce from somewhere like All About Fruit.

I’m yet to find a fruit shop in Brisbane that offers a range of fruit and veg as extensive and high-quality as All About Fruit. When all the other fruit shops and supermarkets are selling fruit that looks great but is tasteless or never ripens, you can depend on All About Fruit for juicy, flavoursome fruit and fresh vegetables that will last more than a paltry twenty-four hours in the crisper. It isn’t the cheapest fruit and veg, but there are plenty of places that charge more for produce of lower quality and I’m happy to pay a little more for fruit that actually tastes like it’s meant to. Often if I’m looking for a more unusual item that isn’t stocked elsewhere, All About Fruit can hook me up.

Feeling fruity? Well, it’s finally summer time and all the yummy fruit come back into season and what I’m really referring to are the mangoes– my favourite! I love buying fruit, the colours, the freshness and the choices at ‘All About Fruit’ seem endless. More importantly, they stock some of the biggest mangoes I’ve seen this season and they are all perfect for eating right here, right now. The staff are fantastic, they have a real knowledge for fruit and really take pride in the store. They were more than happy to suggest fruits to use for a unique and delicious salad. It had peaches, an assortment of melons and nuts and salad leaves. All the fruit are displayed neatly and attractively. You just want to buy one of each for the sake of it. They also have one of the biggest varieties of fruit I’ve seen. One of the coolest parts about this fruit store is they have an additional ‘All About Fruit JUICE’ extension where they make a range of delicious summery fruit drinks. You’ll find all the fruit you need at this corner fruit shop.
