Delicious tasty Japanese cuisine on the main road in Neutral Bay! You can park just out the front of the restaurant after 6pm which is handy. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor alfresco style. Great for the upcoming warm summer weather. Shinya, who is the host will sit you down and go over some of the tasty specials. He recommended the pork belly bao and the Sole fish(never tried it before) Of course we got both of them. If yo sit inside you get to use the touch screen menu and peruse the delightful menu. Highly recommend the pork belly bao and the grilled salmon and the sole fish — wow! Pretty tasty. For dessert we got the banana sundae, cant beat ice cream in hot weather! Friendly staff and great vibe!

The word Samurai conjures images of powerful warriors in traditional Japanese armour. The Chefs at Sushi Samurai create fresh sashimi, steaming hot ramen noodles and neatly wrapped sushi with the precision of a samurai sword. The restaurant has been catapulted into the 21st century by a revolutionary touch screen ordering system. This is a very cool new addition to the restaurant. One can place their order and even request the bill through the touch screen. It saves time as you don’t need to wait to make eye contact with a waiter to place your order as it can be done at any time through the ordering system. If you’re old fashioned and like the more traditional approach of talking to a waiter face-to-face there is an option on the screen to request a waiter too! But it’s not all about the touch screen. The food is great. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and the food is always up to the highest standard. The menu is pretty big so lots of options for fussy eaters. I go for the dinner set which comes with your choice of main, miso soup and really a bit of everything. The best part? Green Tea ice-cream to finish off your meal. Green Tea ice-cream with cornflakes on top. Sounds weird but it works. The location on Military road is great. If you’re coming for dinner you can always get a park on Military road right outside the restaurant(or a short walk away). The restaurant takes reservations and the waiters are super friendly. Its casual family dining with people of all ages filling the restaurant. I love Sushi Samurai. You will too.

The sushi was very nice and fresh at this sushi restaurant tucked far enough off of Military Road. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating options which is nice as the inside seemed quite noisy. The service was very friendly, but a little slow. My miso soup came out immediately while the edamame took about 15 minutes. They also seemed a bit confused with the order. However, we were never out of water, which was nice when you go a bit too far on the Wasabi. We ordered a Sushi Nigiri platter which had a variety of different types of Nigiri(about 8) and a few different rolls. Didn’t love every piece of fish, but that is to be expected when having a sampler. We also got the Rainbox Roll which were quite large pieces served with some very nice fish on top. The restaurant also does catering and takeaway.

Sushi Samurai is a well-known Japanese restaurant situated in the heart of Neutral Bay(just off Military Rd, near the«smaller» Woolworths). It is popular and you’ll want to book a table for dinner on Friday/Saturday evenings. Friendly staff, Vivid menu and consistently great food mean that you’ll probably want to come back here after your first visit. Their menu is full of pictures so you can get a preview of the food before ordering. Standard Japanese items are available: Sushi, sashimi, udon, miso, edamame, and agedashi tofu all make an appearance, along with some more exotic specials such as sizzling Teriyaki Waygu steak(personal favourite) and Cajun Chicken Kaarage. Their drink menu is standard, but I would recommend have a «Peach Soda», which is non-alcoholic but very good. If you haven’t been here before I would give it a try and hopefully you’ll agree with my review :) Parking Tip, if you can’t find parking on Military Rd or any of the side-streets you might consider taking advantage of Woolworths 2-Hour free parking(after buying some groceries on the way out).

I fell for something really silly here — it was a nice sunny day and I needed a lunchtime snack, so stopped in at Sushi Samurai’s sushi window on Rangers Road, opposite Woolies(whilst the address is on Military Road, it’s actually within a building that fronts the thoroughfare but around the back). Takeaway in hand, I then looked for somewhere to eat — sushi rolls are tricky enough sitting down, let along dribbling soy sauce and wasabi whilst walking along. But there was nothing — not a chair, not a tree, not a curb of grass. So said sushi was wolfed in some discomfort, despite being good. Shortly after, I made my way back past Sushi Samurai, only to discover that the other end of the shop opened onto a sunny little courtyard, in which happy little sushi diners were delicately dipping their rolls in sauce and chatting to friends. Oh well … lesson learned for next time. Based on the sushi, the inside Japanese restaurant will be worth heading back to try too.
