Ahhhh Metro I’ve been waiting to visit you again. I think I may have set the bar a little high because I can’t say was overly impressed with my lunch today! I opted for the saganki cheese and pita. The serving size was pretty small, the cheese was over fried and not at all fresh and juicy like it should be served. The pita was nice and authentic. The menu said the dish came up with an orange and fennel salad but all I got was 2 pieces of lettuce and a cherry tomato — not what I expected at all! Perhaps lunch just ain’t ya thang but your sweet treats in particular the Italian ricotta cannoli I devoured was delightful!

Amazing tiramisu so I would guess the rest of the desserts are good as well. Nice selection of desserts and friendly service with a smile! And you can get fresh great too. I had mine with a glass of red from the region. You can also get food as well!

Very good atmosphere. Busy bustling place. Friendly staff. Refunded money for something we did not use! Fast service. Great variety of food items. Interesting wall decorations. Seating inside and outdoors. Great food and drinks. We will return for breakfast. For sure.

Great café and the food looked amazing. Seemed very popular and the cakes were very tempting! Only had a coffee here and it was a great cup. There is plenty of seating and varies from tables to benches to lounge type chairs. Great feel and vibe.

Metro Bakery is the busiest spot in town and now I know why! Walking in there was a line however I was served very quickly. The place is packed out but there are booths, round tables, long tables, inside and outside ones too. There were a variety of people hanging out here and the service was friendly. We were in Mount Gambier for a relaxing weekend and I was glad we stopped here for our first morning breakfast. I ordered the BIGOMELETTE which had everything from mushrooms, chorizo, tomatoes and came with a piece of crunchy toast. We also got the eggs benedict which came with ham. There is something magical about going to another town/city especially in a more country-ish area… I swear the eggs here were fresher, yolk more yellow and everything tasted better. Coffee was good here but I wouldn’t get the chai latte again just because I think tasted like it was the syrup kind which I don’t particularly enjoy. Metro also has many other choices and they sell desserts like sweet cakes and macarons; they have a great range of fresh bread to take home too!

This must be the most crowded lunch spot in Mt Gambier! The food is great, the staff are friendly and the whole place has a good ambiance. For lunch, you can’t do better than their pastrami baguette. It’s only $ 10, will heartily feed a hungry appetite, and it comes with an onion jam that is staggeringly tasty.

Metro is a very busy and popular café in Mt Gambier. They serve a range of quality traditional«bakery» fare, as well as more gourmet offerings and Greek desserts that are to die for!(I think one of the owners is Greek Australian). Their pies, cakes(traditional and Greek), and Cornish pasties all get my thumbs up! Coffee is always spot on. Wanting something lighter? A range of healthy wraps are available but it’s tough to resist the rest! The only thing I dislike about this place is the fact it is so crowded and busy at any time of day. Yes, it means they’re doing well but it’s not the place to linger… Which is too bad as they have free wifi! Nevertheless, I always pay them a visit when I’m I’m the«Mount». So should you!
