Sewerage treatment plants aside, this wetland is a nice little bit of bush, come grassland, come lake, hidden amongst the suburbanised Mt Barker. There are plenty of birds around for people who enjoy pontificating over whether that was the call of the blue titted skip waddle or the furfenbirder and boardwalks to wander around on. They say you can do a 45 minute walk around the lake but that’s more for strollers than power walkers and lucky for you that also takes you past the effluent lake! Don’t worry no wafting smells will pass you by. I would imagine on summer weekends this place might get a little crowded around the one BBQ and undercover shelter but it is definitely a place for strolling, relaxing and listening out for that five billed squabbler you’ve always wanted to hear.
