Nothing has changed from my last review except for me eating there again! Great service, great vibe, drinks and great food! Love their daily deals — the only lost points are that some staff(not the long term staff) can forget to see who’s been waiting longest and sometimes just serve whoever shoves in front of them but it doesn’t happen enough to get annoyed. They are usually really efficient, always courteous. They have an extensive range of taps and even at full price it’s a good deal. If they just wiped the tables a tad more and had slightly better indoor lighting I would move in!

Two words: craft beer ‘The Scotto’ is best pub in Mount Lawley. You will see a big variety of drinkers here, from tradies that have just knocked off, to FIFO workers just getting home, to uni students, to suits after a long day in the office. If you’re looking for a great pub with a huge variety of craft beers(including my favourite Brooklyn Lager) and a great chicken parmigiana then the Scotto is the place to be.

«The Scotto» is a Mt Lawley landmark — great music, good solid pub-fare food, great music, bustling business… and yes, with all of that, it’s going to be loud! Did I mention the music already? If you have the chance, check out the Defectors bar upstairs(gorgeous décor, big leather sofas and a exclusive-club-atmosphere — a great spot for catching up, enjoying a beer and checking out the skyline) and the Velvet Lounge(attached to the side of the building — a cosy floor-and-settee gathering place with low tables for pizza and snacks). My recommendation? Check out the cheap $ 10 – 15 lunch deals and the pint deals. But again — it’s busy, it’s loud and it’s a pub. Enjoy it for what it is.

Ah, the Scoto. How happy you make me. This is my favourite pub in Perth. Why? 1. They serve snakebite and black 2. Their pizza is goodness gracious awesome 3. They do pint and pizza for like $ 11 on a Sunday 4. The team are wicked 5. The music is always good 6. You can sit outside 7. It makes me happy. 8. Defectors 9. The Velvet Lounge 10. It’s the first place I ever felt at home 11. The food is good. 12. All of the beers. 13. It makes me think of the UK 14. The clientele are wicked. It’s one of those venues that has its regulars and that gives it a family feel. It’s family owned and I’ve only been drinking there for a fraction of time(8 years) compared to some of the regulars. But I love it. It’s a bit dirty and someone’s always just spilt some beer on the floor, but it’s home.

Great place to go for a relaxing drink and chat with friends. The Mount Lawley chilled out vibe is great. I love sitting in the outdoor area and just soaking up the atmosphere. Upstairs there is the Defectors Bar that has some live bands and stand-up comedy. The interior decoration is unique and appealing.

It took 15 – 20 minutes to order a drink at the bar. The bar staff were being selective as to who to serve next. Not overly impressed with the service. The décor is nice, plenty of space to grab a seat. Place was quite busy for a Monday night and shows it is a regular haunt for many. I will go back for the comedy events that run here as they are fun but if just in need of a drink may try elsewhere for quicker service and good atmosphere.

This is your typical Aussie pub despite the name. Situated in the bustling suburb of mount Lawley, it’s a good place to sit back with a cold beer catching up with some mates. They had a really good $ 10 lunch menu every weekday too which has become our local for Friday lunch with the office crew. The food is good, the service is good and the location is ideal. I wouldn’t recommend it for a hot date but definitely a good place to sit back, relax with a pub meal and watch the game.

I love this place! Such a good pub to catch up with friends and on Sunday they do Pizza and Pint for $ 10 you can’t go wrong with that! So cheap and delicious! As a pub the atmosphere is great, music is eclectic and fun! They also have specials every night of the week — so good!

It’s a bit of an institution in Perth really! If you haven’t been, you must go! $ 10 pizza and pint on Sunday’s are not to be missed if that’s your thing. Very happy to now have«the scotto»(as its affectionately called) as my local!

Made a nice complaint about the warmth of my prawns, got confronted by impolite chef who said I shouldn’t have left them to the last thing I left. Has ruined all my prior experiences.

Great for having a chilled out beer when you’re wearing your converse and are feeling a bit sketchy from the night before. Brilliant range of tap beers. Always try to grab a seat outside and watch the comings and goings of Beaufort Street. And let’s not forget the big buck machine to test your skills.

Best pub for a sunday session. $ 10 pizza and pint is a steal. Good size pizza and super tasty. $ 10 gets you tap beer, $ 12 will get you cider and it goes up a few bucks for boutique ciders or beers, still a bargain. Service is awesome, staff are funky, and the pizza comes out really quickly. If you want a table I would recommend you get there at 4ish. Otherwise its just luck if someone is leaving.

Pretty damn happy I can now walk to this pub. It’s definitely one of the best pubs in Perth! They have specials like pizza and pint on Sundays and $ 10 jugs Wednesdays. What I really like about the Scotto though is that it’s still a PUB! It hasn’t been revamped to modern and stylish. It’s nice enough without being weirdly clean and over styled(cue Hyde Park Hotel). If your after a cold pint and a pub meal head on down!

I really enjoy the Flying Scotsman– especially since I live around the corner and can pop down there for a quick drink or bite to eat! Sundays are particularly good as they do a $ 10 pizza and pint deal and the pizzas are delicious– but please note this deal only starts after 3pm! Even throughout the week it is usually pretty busy but especially during the special deal nights so make sure you get down there early if you are wanting to go with a big group. The music they play is really good as well, my partner really enjoyed the DJ that was there last Sunday who was playing old school hip hop. The only thing that annoys me about this place is that you HAVE to be sitting outside to have a drink, and they are pretty vigilant about it– even when I stood up for two seconds to say hello to a friend they told me off for not sitting down with my drink. But other than that I really like this place!

Whenever I come here I always seem to have a alcohol filled night, not so great on a work night :( The drinks are cheap, you can get a jug for $ 10.00 on a Wednesday night and on Sundays they have a $ 10.00 pizza and pint deal. Plus the wine list is not to expensive either. The only down fall of this pub is it gets so busy and there arn’t enough tables inside or outside. I would suggest getting here a bit earlier then you planned to get a good seat.

Great place for a cheap chilled out drink. They have student nights during the week where you can get jugs of beer for only $ 10 and cheap meals. Pint of the month is only $ 6. Cool qwerky and attentive staff that dont screw around. Definately reccomend this pub for all especially uni students.

I was going to give Flying Scotsman 3 stars because the food isn’t –that– great. But I do have to give it 4 stars for atmosphere, affordability and location. The Flying Scotsman is the heart of Mt Lawley in my opinion. It has been there from as long as I remember and hopefully it will stay. You do have to fight for a chair on a Sunday with good reason — $ 10 for a pizza and a pint is epic value especially on this trendy strip of Perth. You can see all different types of people on the popular nights and be amongst the hustle and bustle. Or you can pop in for a quiet cool drink during the week and get a little privacy. Easy to find parking nearby and also visit via the 4 buses that go up and down Beaufort St. The Flying Scotsman isn’t particularly fancy — but it has heart and character which will make me often return.

I am lucky enough to have the Scotto as my local pub, although I don’t come here quite as much as I should. We always have good time here whether it is just for a couple of drinks after work, birthday celebrations or a pint & pizza on a Sunday. There is a really great atmosphere here and it seems to be one of the very few pubs left in Perth that hasn’t yet been taken over by a Woolies or Coles.(at least I really really hope not). It plays decent music, has some interesting events on during the week & has very reasonable prices . OH and this is one of the few places that still serve jugs of beer! AMAZING. Thanks Flying Scotsman for being you.

So I was partially buzzing it the first time I walked in here on an afternoon this week. My friends and I just drank one beer each and left. Nothing was really going on, there was a bunch of old people scattered about but the music that was playing was pretty freaking cool Bloc Party, Phoenix, etc, etc, etc. Now the second day(Friday), I went it was alive with young interesting looking individuals. Grabbed a few beers had some half conversations and made my way down to Clearances or the bar upstairs hmmmmmm I don’t remember now. Things get blurry but I can say I didn’t like the upstairs bar. Review to follow! Overall cool great watering hole I think. It was comfortable.

Can’t beat that $ 10 pizza and pint deal! Sundays is the day I get down to The Scotsman for a very relaxed afternoon cider and cheap dinner. A tenner gets you a pint of your favourite and a whole pizza. The toppings vary a little bit each week but there’s always something Vegetarian, a chicken and a meatlovers one. It’s not uncommon for pub goers to get a few pizzas in one sitting; for $ 10, you may as well get the whole deal! After 4 it gets pretty busy on Sundays so get down a bit before if you want a table or couch to sit at. By and large, the crowd is pretty hipster but it’s very casual so its not a place you’d feel ‘too mainstream’ if thats not your scene. Wednesday nights are popular with younger uni students, and you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a weekend night; the air is always jovial.
