When you’re a youngin’ Dry Cleaning is only something serious people do. People in suits who carry home a wire coat hanger and plastic sheath as a badge of honour. But I’ve become one of those people. The pieces in my wardrobe with labels clearly stating«Dry Clean Only» has increased as steadily as my age and either it’s some great marketing ploy or I’m becoming one fussy old lady. Thankfully in the new ‘hood there’s The Laundry Chute. I get the feeling it’s family run and I’m always greeted with a smile and, «How can we help you today?». The prices are what I categorise as «1980s». Most recently a basic black dress that I’ve previously paid $ 25 to be cleaned was a crisp $ 10. And let me tell you: the quality of the dry cleaning is exceptional. I’ve even had them dry clean our quilts. Value and quality service right there, my friend.
