Stamps never fails. It’s tucked away in the old part of Mitcham — it’s a blink and you might miss it place hidden under a leafy verandah. Despite being only a small place it offers great service and surprising food. On Mondays and Tuesdays they do set priced menus which are exceptional value. The menu changes regularly and let’s you travel from Asia to Italy and back to modern Australia again. Highly recommend.

Stamps is our regular ‘go to’ restaurant for special events when we know we want good service, ambience, an inspired menu and not pay exorbitant prices. Last year we booked out the restaurant for a combined family birthday celebration for 45 people and couldn’t have been happier. There are more trendy and ‘cutting edge’ establishments around, and variety is a good thing, I will always be happy to come back to Stamps.

We went to this delightful little place to celebrate my partner’s birthday the other night. If you need a break from the intense, noisy, hectic, large, hard-surfaced restaurant scene, this is your place. It is quiet and unassuming, but with fabulous food and great service. From the scallops to the bambi to the apple streudel dessert, a good night was had by all.

Stamps has to be one of the most boutique restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. Hiding in the small suburb of Mitcham, this small shopfront hides beneath luscious vines which makes it utterly gorgeous. Then once you get past the intriguing beauty of the restaurant, there’s the food. With a seasonal menu, the food is fresh and absolutely amazing. Did someone say Crispy Lemon and Herb Potatoes with Smoked Salt? Delicious! Though be warned, the meals can get a little pricey but extremely worth it. The breakfast menu prices are on par with other restaurants and very high quality. This is the perfect restaurant to take someone if you wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and other suburbs such as Glenelg. Though make sure you check the opening hours because there are very particular times when they are open for certain meal times, such as they only provide breakfast on Sundays.
